To SLI or not to SLI? Dissatisfied with performance.

Whereas I am running a higher resolution, but only need 60hz (3440x1440).

Hey, can it be you play on a 21:9 LG monitor? Was thinking about getting the 34UM95 so SLI would be a must for me as well.

Anyway... tell me about your experiences and the bliss from playing on such a setup.

Nope, always single card unless you want 4K (or 144Hz).

It certainly can be (and is!).

I LOVE this monitor, but once you make the jump to 21:9, get ready to be messing with .ini files and using flawless widescreen to make a lot of games work with it. It is like 2006 all over again when a lot of games did not support even 16:9 widescreen.

Still.... SO worth it. The gains in real estate is astounding.

DA:I supports 21:9 and it is glorious.

Keysnap, if you let me know the games you are playing, I might have them as well and I could let you know of their respective 21:9 aspect ratio support. Most games do work with some fiddling.

Crossfire here and yes to some extend a hassle.  But with my hardware setup unavoidable.  Is it worth it?  If you get it working, hell yes.  Downside you need deep pockets and when you can't get it to work it sucks.  Concerning DAI with my setup very happy indeed, running everything in ultra except msaa which I never use, don't see the use for it in high resolutions and the performance hit it gives.

I've seen some articles on the 980ti. Supposedly the specs got leaked and it's about 50% more powerful than the 980. Some people seemed to think it could be out in the next 90 days or so, others think it's going to be a much longer wait.

Exactly. There were a ton of leaks over the last month that he can find with a google search. AMD will be releasing most likely a new card in Q1, so Nvidia will most definitely follow something to beat that. I don't think we are going to be waiting until the middle of next year as many leaks are saying around February Time Frame. If the rumors are to be believed, this might be the card to be able to game properly with Gsync at 1440P or maybe 4K without the hassles of SLI. There is nothing worse than someone who doesn't know how to build a PC (or even if you do build one), spending to get the top of the line card, CPU, SSD, etc for 3-5K, turn on your new Gsync monitor in 1440P or 4K, turn on that new PC, fire up Dragon Age Inquisition or any new game that is about to come out (Witcher 3, GTA 5, etc) and find SLI is not supported, you get microstuttering, weird visuals, tearing, water ripples that flicker..etc etc etc. It makes you feel like you just got robbed. Yes, for many it works and they have no problems, but the risk that things won't work with each new patch or new game is way too high in my eyes and from my experience to justify SLI. That is why my fingers are crossed for this potential 980TI.
