The weapon damage in this case counts little....
I've read this post a few times and I'm unsure what you are on about. The only thing that's clear is that you seem to be somewhat confused.
Weapon damage counts for a lot, everything actually since this game is extremely gear dependent. The DPS value is the (or should be, who knows with this game) result of damage divided by attack speed in seconds (hidden). And this stat means very little, since it only applies to auto-attacks. Actual DPS, including rotations, isn't calculable without checking how long (and when it can be canceled) each animation is. The hidden attack speed has no bearing on activated abilities, since they have a set animation already independent of your weapon, with damage that scales of base weapon damage.
This means, and you should know this if you ever played a Reaver, that Dragon's Rage animation is the same if you are holding a two handed weapon or one handed weapon. It's damage depends on the base damage of the weapon, attack speed and DPS do not come into play when you are using Dragon Rage. Since two-handed weapons have more base damage, a two-handed Reaver will always do more damage using Dragon Rage.
