I have no idea if this has been asked before, and the search isn't coming up with anything so I'm hoping to find out what's going on here.

Currently, I am about 40 hours into my second playthrough and I have noticed I am no longer getting approval (or disapproval) messages from Solas or Cole. Things that I know resulted in at least slight approval increases from my last playthrough are getting their positive verbal reaction on the field but no approval notification. I'm not sure when it started to happen either. There's also no approval/disapproval from them during Skyhold judgements and dialogue decisions that they reacted to before.

It doesn't seem to be happening to any other party members.

Does this mean my save is bugging out? Has anyone else experienced this with any of their companions?

Sounds like you've hit 100% approval with Solas and Cole, which is why you won't get any more approval. This happened to me, I noticed that Solas stopped giving approval for activating Elven artefacts.

 

As for disapproval, maybe Inquisition kept the DA2 thing where approval locks when you hit 100% friendship/rivalry.

100% approval does make sense, I had the same thing happening with the elven artifacts.

Thanks for the replies. I'm relieved that it doesn't appear to be a bug, then. I suppose that means I never hit 100% with anyone in my last playthrough, but these two gents are practically static members of my adventuring team, so I reckon it makes sense. My concern is that it just feels like its too early to have gathered full approval of anyone, as I have yet to complete Here Lies the Abyss or Wicked Eyes.

I guess I'll be able to test whether it's locked in with the former. I'm not sure I've actually done anything that they would disapprove of yet, but I do know the choice I will make there is gonna really burn Solas' biscuits. :3

I have the same thing happening with Dorian and Varric.

Just finished the Winter Palace and got no approval / disapproval from either of them.

I hope it's because they are maxed and not a bug. Dorian was bugged on my last playthrough.

It seems it was indeed maxed out for me, but it doesn't lock in. I still got the angry eyebrows and a big honking "greatly disapproves" from Solas on the quest outcome. Now I can successfully see his approval on his fetch quest again. Cole also.

So, working as intended it seems. I hope it is for you also Attacktaur.
