That... is not completely impossible...
The Red Jenny quest is also meant to be completed around Landsmeet, as far as I remember, as you have no reason to enter Denerim earlier, unless Lels asks you to deal with Marjolaine... Which is about a year after the Origin stories...
So Sera could indeed be Amethyne, after all...
She gets orphaned at the beginning, and soon is taken in my the mysterious Lady Emmald.
Before the end of the year, however, she finds out stuff, and instead ends up with the current Denerim's Red Jenny...
Effectively being with the man (I believe she said the person who took her in was the current Red Jenny, and that it was a man?) by the time the Warden supposedly enters Denerim for the first time...
And this is how legends (and head-mounted canons) are born...
One question remains, how old is Amethyne in Origins.

Thaught that but nah. Sera was already a streetrat before the warden and Amethine was ginger i think. and i think arround 7.

I would love it if it were true, but doubt it is for the abovementioned reasons. Also, I believe Amethyne contracted the plague during the Unrest in the Alienage quest. (She is seen sitting behind a building and coughing.)
She could have survived it, though.
I named my Dalish Inquisitor Amethyne in her honor.

Could be but seems unlikely due to numbers and probability. Definitely interesting idea though, thanks OP. ![]()

She has red hair, you see her if you played an HN. Can't say anything to her though, which makes your warden seem cold as ice. "Yeah, I splooged in your mom before she died. Wanna fight about it?"

Yeah in my head canon totally didn't do that she took her in, I mean for what it's worth she totally blamed herself for Iona's death.

Doesn't Sera say something like "I was too busy burying things I stole to worry about blah blah blah..." when she first opens up to the Inquisitor. When you see Amthyne in the alienage she is digging in the dirt???

So my Hero of Ferelden banged Sera's biological mom? These forums are the gift that keeps on giving.
At this point, who didn't the Hero of Fereldan bang?

Like it says on the tin.
It's kind of thin, but the ties could be there. Sera was orphaned, does not remember her parents and was in the Denirim alienage during the blight. Amethyne's mother Iona died at Highever and her father died of a wasting disease before that. She also lived in the alienage since there was not enough room [at] Lady Leandra's so would not know much about her mother. Amethyne was in the Denirim alienage during the blight since this is where the warden can find her.
DA:O took place in 9:30 Dragon, the start of DA:I 9:41 Dragon, that's 11 years. Amethyne was no older than a year old in DA:O, she would be 11-12 now.
Sera is minimum 16 years old.
So the answer is clearly not. However if you compared her to Andruil, you might have a bit more to go on than Elf female with blonde hair.

Amethyne was around 7-10 in DA:O from the look of her & Sera isn't a teenager, is early 20's

I am ashamed. I have played DA and been a fan since origins came out. And the other night was the first time I talked to Iona, hell Darrion too. I had no idea you could invite them to your room (anyway getting off subject) I don't think its her cuz Sera was just starting the 'red jenny' thing during the blight and I don't see a 10 yr old girl doing stuff like that...

The quote you're referring to is that she was digging around and playing with a wooden box while the blight was going on. Didn't the Red Jenny quest involve taking a small, carved, wooden box from Irving's office and delivering it to the door that wouldn't respond to you saying anything in Denerim? That one caught my attention, too.
I'm not saying that I 100% think Sera is Amethyne, but it is possible. There is nothing to say that she wasn't somehow connected to the Red Jennies BEFORE Emmald took her in. A family friend in the Alienage, maybe? Smugglers and criminals have children (and their children have friends), too. Wouldn't have to be an active member yet, so much as an unknowing witness. Not saying I believe that's what happened, I just don't think we have enough info to definitively rule something like that out. And what child wouldn't be angry and frustrated if first they were too young to remember their father before he died, and then mom literally never came home and you NEVER found out why (but maybe suspected it had something to do with her working for human nobles)!? It would fit well with what Sera tells us (and, perhaps more revealingly, does not tell us) about her childhood and her general outlook on life.
A retconned hair change wouldn't be outside the realm of BioWare, either, especially since Iona describes her daughter as looking very much like her (specifically having her eyes and that she's the only one who sees any of her father in her), and Iona was very much blonde hair, blue-eyed. I also think it would be fair to say that Sera seems to be one of--if not the--youngest members of the Inquisition, on par with about how old Cole projects himself to be, which is stated to be a young man of no more than 20. If Amethyne was ten-ish, and that was ten-ish years ago...just sayin'.
This and the vessel for Andruil theory are both very interesting! Either way, obviously there is something more to Sera and her story that we have yet to discover. We shall have to wait and see. ![]()
Edit: For those saying she should at least be old enough to remember her mother, or at least her own original name, if you take this into consideration along WITH the Andruil theory, I'm not certain her memory would survive intact after whatever was "put inside her" when she was only "a child," as Cole vaguely says in conversation (again, not certain that was even a reference to Sera, but I think there is a compelling argument to made that it was), or that she wouldn't have trouble distinguishing her own memories from the collective geas or what have you. She seems both frustrated and, sometimes, confused when asked to recall her early life.

Is her name Amethyne? I didn't think so. Considering Amethyne wasn't too young to remember her own name, speak in complete sentences, or ask where her mama was, I doubt she and Sera are the same person.
Jeez, what is with the BSN's obsession with combining established characters? "Solas was revealed to be Fen'Harel. Since he was revealed to be one god he must also be Falon'Din, and Falon'Din must also be Dirthamen since they were twin brothers in the elven pantheon, and being brothers must be code for "they were the same person," right? And he's bald like Shartan, so Solas must also be Shartan!"
"Sera was a young orphan in the Denerim Alienage, and since we all know there was one young elven orphan in all of Denerim during the Fifth Blight, that must have been Sera."
For Pete's sake, can't Sera be Sera without trying to combine her with another character?

Probably has to do with her anti-"elfy" attitude. She doesn't care for the Dalish at all.

@Rizilliant
This was actually explained by the devs. Sera may be an elf but she was trained by humans so the devs made it so she could only wear "human-trained" armour instead of "elf-trained" armour. A small joke/quirk on their part that a lot of people sadly didn't get.

Also, did you see all the "Elf-Trained" armors?
They're all bloody Elfy.
Like, close to nature, barefooted, etc.
Whatever you imagine as Elfy, the armors are it. Makes sense Sera wouldn't want to wear them.
Plus, she uses the human bodymodel, AFAIK. Or is at least quite close to it.
So, that's less things to model for you, with the added bonus of it actually making sense in the game world!
Two kills with a single shot, what a treat!
