Heres a poll for the healing magic debate.
Let your opinion be known.

oops...thank you for that. Fixed
I dont mind it. Barrier + Fade touched obsidian you are almost OP. Combine that with KE and you are.
Your poll needs more votes. ![]()
Here. This is an interesting thread. One I wouldn't want to fade into obscurity.
It is also notable that in the Off Topic section you can start your own polls there.
Either way you have my support. ![]()
Well remember, people are more than welcome to share the link for the poll in other places, facebook, other parts of the forums, twitter, what have you. I know alot of people dont come to the forums.

I don't think there is any problem with the current system. It's just a matter of learning to use barrier/guard as opposed to healing.
If there was even a minimal passive regen while exploring it would be perfect.
I don't really understand the thought process behind removing healing in the first place. It's a staple of RPG mechanics.
I feel they needed to add too many defensive "things" to the game in order to compensate for no healing. This results in a steep difficulty curve at the start of the game that swiftly drops off once you can reliably apply barriers and guard. The game then becomes easy mode.
I could get used to the barrier/potion thing if there was passive out-of-battle regen. I could get used to the lack of out-of-combat regen if there was proper healing.
Either of those would have been fine. Both at the same time...pure frustration.
I'd like to have the option of building a character as a healer, and to have the option of using healing spells as opposed to potions. Choosing this build and strategy would mean less damage output for the party, but it's a choice I want to make - instead of being forced "on-rails" with my mage.
Healing spells back, redesigned for the new combat system, as a specialization we get to choose - that is what I hope to see ![]()
The combat and gameplay is fine as it is. It's extremely easy on Normal.

It was so they could calculate damage better. Among other things.

Exactly, even though its less than other DA games, if it had to be limited to a specialty then so be it but I still want healing. Ive been a healer mage in all the DA games. It makes the mage unplayable to me. Not to mention the sever limit on the normal other spells as well. I mean heck....3 out of the 4 trees you start with in DAI all come from one tree in DAO...lol
Like i have said in other threads, Spirit Healing could be a choice the player makes. They come across a mage willing to help the inquisition, or a mage comes to haven or skyhold and offers his help and at the same time offers to teach the mage player how to heal like he does. The player could then choose either to keep the mage and learn healing magic or send him away and keep the potions. If you keep the mage the potion make gets upset and leaves.
Btw...results so far
17 votes for healing back in some form.
11 votes for potions
1 vote dont care.

Glad to see we're not the only ones ![]()
So far some surprising numbers, but we need more feedback. Spread it around.
I know a lot of people find the healer boring, but for me, not only is the role useful but I find it interesting.
It is especially interesting if the healing isn't limited to your party. If enemy fighters have healers then it creates an element of challenge.
However I am fine with or without healing. Though if you give me the choice to be a healer, I'll pick healer.
My thoughts on the matter:
Poll Maker: How do you like to heal in the morning?
Abraham: I like mine in the game.
Poll Maker: Specialisation or not?
Abraham: I'm satisfied, as long as I get to heal.
Kudos if you get the song reference.
The poll is worthless. You're not getting a random sample of players. You're getting players who are interested in healing; there's no way that's not going to over-represent people who are bothered by the current implementation.
Funny how its getting the attention of people who dont want it back just fine here in the forums. There have been plenty of people against it talking about it in both this thread and the main thread on the topic. So why would the poll be otherwise. Besides...its pretty close atm.
The poll is coming along fine.
