So, today I go to log in to DAI after playing for 7 hours yesterday.  IT starts displaying messages about cloud syncing and crap. I loaded the most recent save.  Log in... my whole day of gameplay is gone!

Rare items gained, dozens of items.  Areas unlocked.  15 hours of stronghold emissary missions... ALL GONE!

Why?  What is wrong with your save system Bioware.

After 60+ hours of play, I just want to uninstall.  I don't have the time to deal with a schizophrenic save system.1

Blame Origin.

I do.

And honestly, I don't know why UBisoft and EAware think these game services are a good idea.  Steam kicks their butt due to large selections and massive discounts.  So, unless UBI and EA intend to release 30,000 games in the next year, each, they will never compete.

It's not an Origin problem, since it happens with Steam's stupid cloud saves too.

Just disable cloud saving going forward, and only save locally. Cloud saves are always a pain in the ass and never worth the trouble.

Sorry to hear that. If I didn't pay attention when Origin asks me which game version I want when syncing, I would have the exact same problem. It's easy to overlook this when all you want is to play and not worry about technicalities.

They are handy when using a different computer. I just always overwrite whats in the cloud

Ya i didnt notice but i had played with my connection to origin lost, so when i next started the game it asked me if i wanted to go by the cloud saves or my hard drive saves.

ALWAYS choose hard drive. Those will always be your more recent saves.

Lesson learned.

Doesn't it ask what you want to do when your cloud saves and local saves don't match? It always asks me.

I really don't know why Origin loses connectivity, either.  Steam is rock solid for me.  Everything is, except Origin.  I have the highest speeds my area allows, which are 75down, 20 up.

Honestly, Origin should not exist.  They will never touch Steam.

This. Sounds like OP wasn't paying attention when that message popped up.

Yep, but you realized what was happening and you're babysitting it. They're on by default and the OP obviously didn't realize it (the same thing happened to me with Steam and Skyrim saves, and stuff got all messed up). Thanks to that, it was the first thing I thought to disable when I started using Origin.

This poster might be referring to the save limit. For some reason, there's an arbitrary cap of (I think) 40 saves on the new gen systems? Which is ridiculous, but a different conversation.

Apparently the saves are capped at 250 for PC, which makes even less sense.

I agree with that, though I understand why they do it, it's easier to reach customers directly and collect their own stats, for gameplay as well as marketing purposes.

But Origin still sucks.

If they think they can make a better platform than Steam, than they should simply allow us to chose wichever platform we want.  If Origin gets better than Steam, we'll use it, or at least I will.  But so far, aside from forcing me to buy the same game 2-3 times, I haven't seen anything good from EA's online services.

I still don't get the hate. Origin is fine. It's basically just the button I press to play Dragon Age: Inquisition. Whenever I want to play a different game (including Origins), I turn Origin off and run steam. It's kind of as simple as that.

They do it to avoid paying steam the 30% royalties on sales. As a pc gamer its very uncomfortable to have all this accounts and software from : 1- steam, 2- origin 3- blizzard , 4- uplay (ubisoft). I mean its obvious for them to not want to give that money away its just annoying for us to have to install all this software and create accounts etc. But they don't care what is best for their custormers they give you the finger since they know their fans will buy the game anyways. ( or most of them will).

One person claimed that more than 250 lags the game.

Turn off the cloud, this has happened to others.
