I've not played MP yet, keeping it for after my first solo play so I've no idea what to expect. I know you have a MP exlusive character that you level up by playing MP but what I'm wondering is this:

Can we turn our mage into a Knight Enchanter as we can in the game? Is KE a starting option (would doubt that personally)?

MP has pre-made characters that you play as.  You get to decide how skill points are spent across two possible trees, but that's the extent of the customization.  That said, there are a fair number of characters to choose from, and a KE based mage is one of them (The Arcane Warrior).  It does require gathering some materials to craft its armor to unlock the class, but it's not particularly difficult to do.  Your option for starting characters are the Legionnaire (tank), Archer, and Keeper (Barrier/Lightning/Frost based mage).

Yes, and have no fear, for it's every bit as broken.

That being said the Arcane Warrior in MP is similar to the knight enchanter. Even better I would say.

Well thanks for that.....not even sure I'd want to play a KE-style character in MP if it's this easy.

Arcane Warrior is the closest you could get to KE. He's slightly less broken though, since he doesn't get Knight Protector, or Flashpoint or Clean Burn, or Barrier, or Fire Mine, or Disruption Field ... you get the point.

He does have the Rift Mage's Pull of the Abyss though, which is nice. I was appaled to see that very few KEs on youtube spec into Decloaking Blast on Fade Cloak. It's always a sign that they haven't properly played the Arcane Warrior yet. When Clean burn reduces your Fade Cloak cooldown by 1 second for every Spirit Blade attack, then the Decloaking Blast becomes even more stupidly overpowered than it is on the AW.
