This reminds me of a heated class debate in high school.
"how can you miss love if you never loved?"
Basic human empathy?

ok, it's kind of pointless to complain over something like this
lol. it's just a cut scene, yes they should have the option to skip it if you want to but my gosh lol having to bring it up and complain about it lol. Seriously tho, don't expect BioWare to cater their own game after what a few people want. I don't hear a majority of people complaining over something as little as a cut scene so I say this is a no-go for BioWare.
So ... it should play out a bit like THIS scene? Would be indeed funny if we had THAT oprion in game, gave me a good chuckle imagining this
But really, I don't really get it when people all get crazy when confronted with "religion". I am like Dorian in thiat (not gay however), and as he tells us: He is Andrastian, but does not need the Chantry. And also he thinks the Maker does not need him/us to pray to him, but the people need it.
I always liked it that religion does play a significant role in Thedas. That gods are still mysterious and not running around in person (like in Baldurs Gate and the like), that we get a sense of the people and what they feel about the Maker, Jesus Christine/Andraste and all that.
There is also in DAO a small scene during the preparation for the battle of Ostagar, before the charge, when a chantry-sister is blessing the army with her incense and so on. I always loved this little touch. And I like the singing.
It is NOT important whether your Inquisitor is Atheist, believes in the Maker or whatever s/he answers to the Mother Giselle. this scene is, in fact, NOT about the main char! It is about the people following the Quizzy, and what they hope and belive in. Shocking, but the Quizzy aka ourselves are not always meant to be the center of all things happening on screen
NOW CUT THE SINGING!

I agree that not everything needs to always be about the main character, but this scene is kind of damning, you flounder as a leader at a critical moment, and then get bailed out by Giselle and Solas, if there had been 2-5 more hours between this scene and the appointment to leadership it wouldn't be quite as stinting,

I don't know maybe people us complaining about this will be a nice change of pace next to all the nostalgia drones who want the game to use 10-15 years out of date combat
There are days I just wish I could shove NPC's heads in their anal orifice whenever they praise the Maker near my character...
Wish I could shove that stupid hat from those Chantry sisters as well.

We need an option to pass an official policy, "Any Inquisition personnel referring to the Lord/Lady(Should have been Sir/Dame) Inquisiter, By the name Herald of Andraste will be on prisoners rations for a month,"
I truly hate the song, it plays all the time. I had a friend go into the files and replace it with another song. Dont ask me HOW he did it, but it worked for my 2nd play through.
Why make such a big fuss over something so small? Just because you can't stand religion doesn't make it any less important for those that do. Religion is a big deal in Thedas. If it bugs you just ignore it and move on. Why is that so hard to do??

I am asking to be allowed to ignore it faster,
i'm an atheist too but i love that song, i have chills everytime i listen to that
Yes, please.
For me it isn't even about religion (though yes, my Inquisitor is a Dalish who rejects being called the Herald of Andraste at every opportunity and does not like every Chantry person pushing their religion on her), it's about the fact that I can't stand people bursting into song in things. It makes me think of a Disney movie and yes seems overly cheesy and annoying. I didn't like the song in DAO either.
If you liked it, fine, that's wonderful. Me having an option to skip it does not diminish your enjoyment of it.
Hopefully modders will provide us with this.
Yep has nothing to do with religion either.
The song is just cheesy as hell. It relaly should be skippable if you want to.
Dude as an Athiest my self whats the big deal? its fantasy.
I was already a little peeved that the scene still plays when i choose the option that equates to pointing out that religion is the root of the problem, but then i have to sit trough a long cut scene that basically amounts to a big middle finger to my choice, I just turn of the tv and wait now but why should i have to? why is this scene unskippable? then again why are any cutscenes not skippable? that seems kind of lame to be honest, in fact just make all cut scenes skippable.
Because the song isn't for you and your feelings don't really matter. That is the entire point of it all. The Inquisition is not about truth, it's about a placebo and it does not matter if you want it to be or not, it is going to be one. The game does not give us the option of forcing people to reply on themselves, you will be their Prophet whether you like it or not and they will sing your praises, whether you like it or not.
While I don't see why it shouldn't skippable for those that want it to be, I don't take the song as being about religion in this context. Yes, it has religious ties but Mother Giselle sings it to muster hope in a dark moment. It can be taken as a song about faith but not nessecary about having faith in the Maker but about having faith in you, in that the dawn will come and that this dark moment will pass.
It's done by soldiers, refugees and in many dire times because it is a good and easy way to motivate people, to unify and bring them together by lifting their spirits.
... or so I understood it.
I'm on the "****-the-maker" path too, but dude, did you realize that you are on a inquisition declared by the right-hand of the female pope? in these terms, i wouldn't whine even if the game was about burn apostates and purge the heretics.
Honestly, my biggest complaint about the chantry in this game is their ugly ****** hats. - Like I just picture any of the inquisitors making fun of Liliana or Cassandria endlessly about them having to wear that stupid hat if they became the divine
As a fellow atheist: shut up. You're playing a game set in a fictional medieval-style world with a fictional religion. If you can't separate that from your real life views then don't play a roleplaying game.
Thank you so much if you believe in any kind of Religion or don't is for each person to decide for themselves but when people spaz out over fantasy Religions in a game that they can't get past it just annoys me.. there was ''that group'' that did the very same thing when Dragon Age : Origins came out
I love this scene, truly, but why not allow to skip? Seems silly when you can skip everything else.
This is it. This is what everyone should be saying here. Regardless of your opinion about songs, religion or faith - you should be able to move past the sequence.
Regardless if the Maker is actually real or not, you have to admit that if everyone was convinced the maker was not real, many would give up on the spot. Believing in some greater purpose is powerful, and that is true in the real world too.

Amen to that. ![]()
Like the Herald once said to Varric: please don't burst into song.
It doesn't matter your view on religion, nor your characters view. All other cutscenes are skipable, so this should be. or at the least it should be on second playthroughs.
Why in the hell would you ever want to skip this scene? ![]()
