I dont normally do this but...What the actual ****? Origin combat like real combat? I'm so very sorry you think that anything resembling a fight looks like Origins. The ONLY thing that is flashy in DAI are Mages. MAGES. They shoot fire out their asses and ****** lightning. They should be flashy.

But then again, I could just have my mages, my archers and my warriors all standing rather casually in combat while all hell is breaking loose like in Origins, because that is so real.

Must we automatically assume that if someone happens to prefer something created 5 years ago over something created today, the only reason is nostalgia?

If someone prefers Classic Coke over the new recipe, is it because nostalgia?

If someone would rather look at Michelangelo's work than attend an opening at MOMA, is it because nostalgia?

I don't mean to call you out personally, but I get really, really, REALLY tired of all the 'rose-tinted glasses' and 'nostalgia' comments directed at those who happen to prefer DAO.

When the onlya argument he makes is "the old one is better and perfect because it's the old one while the new one suck because has too many different things" what other explanation there is?

I called that the Old Man Shuffle myself.

When people start misremembering the game & put it on a unreachable pedestal of awesomness, it usually is nostalgia talking especially when people say DA:O had no fetch quests or that choices largely affected the story outside of the useable forces at the end & the PC living/dying after killing the archdemon

For Origin fetch quests that had really jack-all to do with the plot, the quest to get 10 garnets says hello.  :P

Its apparently awesome & great & unique when DA:O did fetch quests but when DA:I does the same thing it's just "MMO trash" instead

And had OP posted that list this post would have had meaning. He didnt so this post dont. Simple as that realy

lol that makes no sense what-so-ever. The guy just gave the thread purpose... but since it wasn't the original poster (and I'm guessing not your view, which is the most important part of your response, obv) all the sudden nothing here is valid. Absurd.

lol, such thin straws some people.

I still hate that quest too.  The Ceremonial Armor quest in this game brought back some very unpleasant memories.  I feel fortunate I got to complete that, after getting lucky with some loot in the Temple of Mythal.

The garnet quest I managed to complete once, and I have 8 Wardens that made it til the end.  Most of them are types of rogues.  I accomplished that only after pickpocketing literally every NPC in the Dalish Camp; in Redcliffe Village and Castle; in all quarters of Ozramarr; Denerium (brothel, market and alienage,); and in the Frostback mountains.   No joke; I managed to win 7 garnets randomly, and it took me 4 hours straight of sodding pickpocketing to get the rest.  This doesn't include time spent backtracking into areas like the Werewolves Lair and the Deep Roads to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Well, let's see.....OP said the game is 'unplayable', none of those things makes the game 'unplayable'.

1. Abilities are different and are spread out between more 'classes' Now if you're talking about things like taking out pickpocketing, persuasion and stuff like that....then yes, I do miss a couple of those.

2. Less mage skills. Same as #1. I haven't been specializing as a mage, been taking a few skills here, a few there......The skill trees are much nicer since I can drill own to the skill I want and spend less points than in either DAO or DA2.

3. Not an issue, learn to use your weapons and armor upgrades. (Guard on hit) Skill points in barrier, resistence tonics, healing mist potions, rock armor potions. I totally suck at tactics and have had no isues. (and I initially freaked about lack of heal)

4. I agree with this. I would rather allocate the points myself. I seem to like nerfed builds.

5. Impactuful choices.....How impactful do you want them to be? not EVERY choice is a major world shaking event....is every choice you make in your daily like going to have a chaos-theory effect on the world around you? Nope, didn't think so. Small choices....small effects. Listen to the people in the towns around you....ambient convos are your friend if wanting to see outcomes. Also pay attention to War Table missions (although with this one, you will have to have multiple play throughs to realize that YES there is a difference in outcomes based on what you do.....not always, but often....)

6. Let's see......DAO Headgear, boots, armor, gloves...DA2 headgear, armor, boots, gloves....DAI Armor (which you add boots and gloves to) and headgear.....Looks like 4 types of armor in each game.

7. Crafting is your firend in this game to get different looks...back to that boot and arm thing on your armor slots (although there could have been some additional base models)

8. Poor crafting system. I usually hate crafting in games, (gawd Witcher was horrid)......I'm liking crafting in DAI. Could have better explanation about the slots though.

9. Don't need to pick flower and rocks unless you want to craft stuff, make potions. Also there are 'gather assets' missions available on the War table. A little randon on what you get back and how much, more efficient to do it yourself.

10. Totally agree. Hairstyles are ..... horrid. But it hasn't kept people from making some very nice looking Quizzys.

11. Only 2 voices.....Hey! DAO had what, 4? But they only had something like 4 lines to say....your character essentially said nothing ever. DA2...only had 1 voice. Having a fully voiced choice of 2 for how many lines of diologue are in this game is AMAZING when you think about it.

12. Upgrade how many potions you can carry and how many potion slots you have, also....belts granting extra carry potion/tonic number. I have not had an issue yet, and hey...run down? Fast travel to camp and restock....also in story critical missions there are resupply chests around.

13. Agreed that the research items really shouldn't have been lumped with 'junk'

14. Again, how much impact do you want? Why does every choice necessarilly have to thread through to every sequel....can't it skip an installment? Or really not have mattered in the long run?

15. Agreed. Although at least it changes over time (unlike DA2)

16. I believe what was shown there (Crestwood if I recall correctly) was a VERY early build. Even I know stuff gets cut in game development all the time (heck, weren't we promised a story in Destiny?) While it would have been VERY nice to have a mission or two like that....it got cut and we haven't been told why. Didn't work as intended?

Totally agree on the the part I put in bold.  Here's a real game example.  First playthrough I was a hard core Andrastian.  Accepted my role as the Herald.  When it came time to judge Ser Ruth from the Grey Wardens was given a star option that said Andraste forgave her and was given the war table mission the good works of Ser Ruth.  In my second playthrough didn't accept being the Herald and denied it at every chance.  When I went to judge Ser Ruth I didn't get the star option.  Instead I could only exile, kill or send her to the deep roads.  I instead got the war table mission, the Death of Ser Ruth.  A lot of the choice and consequences are like this.  I didn't notice a lot of the different outcomes until I started my second playthrough and made different choices.  Some of them are subtle and you don't see the consequence until later in the game.  IMO this is better and more realistic to not have a giant sign smack you with THIS IS THE CONSEQUENCE TO YOUR ACTIONS.  It felt a lot more organic.  But you won't discover it unless you play through a second time and take different options.

P.S. is some of the stuff railroaded.  Yes.  They have a story they want to tell and this means that we all are going to reach the same end goal because this is the story they want to tell.  I'm okay with this and what I'm enjoying about my second play through is the small differences in the world the ambient convos and other things that are different based on my choices in game.
