I do everything. You don't need to do as much as I do, however. Thing is, unless you know the game well, it's difficult to know which side quests to do and which to skip if you want to do that. Some open up new quests and area, some have other benefits. I'd do most things until you know the game well enough to be a little more choosy. You're right that only doing main plot will have you too little levelled to survive and you'd miss out on some interesting and valuable things.

You don't have to do all the sidequests to be powerful enough to get through the story, I also wouldn't recommend it. I ended up 5 levels higher than most everything doing it that way.

Good point, you have to be aware of your level and there's way more content than you need to get where you need to be. I guess if you miss something good, that's for next time, lol. Make sure you do the stuff that has meaning for your companions though.

Returning goats and druffalo was fun. Once. I mostly stick to main and companion quests, but pick up side quests if I don't have to go too much out of my way ![]()

You don't have to do everything, but as someone who is a completionist, yeah, I feel this compulsive need to do everything.

Do the side quests that interest you, skip the ones that don't. You'll be fine.

as much as possible. I ended up cleaning out areas and questlines.
I'm gonna milk this for all it's worth. There isn't going to be another DA game for who knows how long.

You cannot progress in the story unless you complete side quests.

I just hit an area and work from quest marker to quest marker so I don't feel like I'm running across the map 50 or 60 times. That way, it doesn't feel like I'm wasting as much time doing things and it nets me a respectable amount of stuff. Did anyone else get Tyrdda's "Axe?" I don't know if I'll get it this play through, but it is a nice one isn't it?

"There seems to be a minimum faffing about quota required before you can advance the plot."
