Why are ALL building interiors soaking wet in raining zones?

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say the weather effects are just screen overlays and not actual objects in the world. Therefore, they cannot collide with anything, making it appear everywhere. Skyrim does the same thing.

Nothing in games is 100% accurate, going with this logic you'd end up with a game that has no visuals whatsoever because that'd be 'less jarring' than the approximation they can provide.

Your character's hair or armor being wet outside is a much more minor detail than waterfalls mysteriously generating out of thin air and making no pool beneath them. A game with "no visuals" would of course be much more jarring than a game with flawed visuals, there's no need to be so overdramatic. If a game had flocks of sheep milling around in the background for example but all of the sheep had only two legs, it would make more sense to not include that minor background detail than to put it in and just not care that it's broken and ridiculous.

It looks nice where it's appropriate, I agree - but it feels immersion breaking where it is not appropriate and frankly I don't think there should be the trade-off of either take it all or nothing.
We don't know the reasons, whether it's an engine limitation, a bug or simply a question of managing development resources (though I still think that would be an odd thing to save man hours on, seeing that they had resources to design I don't know how many mounts f.e.) but as a creative artist in charge of designing the game world I'd be more worried about people who don't even notice this oddity than people who complain about it ![]()

Honestly, until I read this thread, I didn't even notice it. I would imagine its the same for most people.

Why add the wet effect at all then? It would be less jarring for everything to look generically dry in the rain (like in older games) than to have a waterfall running down every interior wall, bookcase, marble bust in the middle of a room on the first floor of a two story keep, etc...plus it would have saved them the trouble of making the effect. I think the effect is super cool and all but when it's improperly placed it makes everything worse rather than better.
Because it's an amazing effect. Very atmospheric.

It's just a dumb glitch(?) but I find it very distracting. There are people who don't care about the 50 save limit or the lack of ambient music or banter, but those things all bug me a lot.

But...I've had ambient music. It fades in and out. I think that's just part of the banter bug.

That's not a reason to get rid of it. It's a reason to fix it. I didn't notice that, btw. I'll have to head back over and look again.

Yes, I would also prefer that they fix it. My reasoning was that if they didn't care and would not attempt to fix it, why have it in the first place?

According to BioWare the music is supposed to come in 10-30 second bursts occasionally although it sounds like they intended it to be more frequent than once an hour
...
either way, I hate the silence. (I have resorted to playing Skyrim's soundtrack while exploring in DA:I)

I don't even know what you mean by the mysterious waterfalls (the ones I did see seemed to make sense) Which leads me to believe these waterfalls are something occasional and easily overlooked, while the wet effect in the zones where it rains is easily noticeable as you see it constantly while you spend your time there.
