I would not rely on a forum like this for exact hardware performance advice. Always consult the bench.
This one includes e.g. a 660
http://www.techspot....ion-benchmarks/
Just compare for a bit and get the general gist in which setup the gpu and when the cpu is a bottleneck.
And please no. Why do you recommend such bullshit. This card is like 20% more powerful than the 970 but costs about double. Yeah great recommendation...
Yep, it was double the cost. You most certainly know what you are talking about...

That's , I've got extra disposable income and I want the best, not I want value for my money.
Can't you read the OP?
Please be aware that I've got a kid to take care of so money is absolutely a huge factor in this. I'm perfectly happy with used or refurbished parts so long as they're in working condition. Mostly I just want to know which parts I should be looking into.

FYI 2x4 isn't always better than 1x8 - For the dual channel yea, but looking ahead no. And it was primarily a place holder for type of RAM, since OP didn't state what kind she had with the "32GB of DDR3". And the K CPU is cheaper/same price (depending on merchant) than the non K so why not?

it usually is (dualchannel).

The above will also be able to OC decently well.
not with a H97 board.

You can still OC with that board. Not as much control as a proper MB for OC'n would be, but still possible (BIOS update).

Well, when I bought my 980 it was only 40 dollars over the amazon price of a 970. Therefore, I thought "why not?" As for what he or she should buy, well he needs to use his own commonsense for that. If money is a "big" problem, his or her commonsense should be saying not to upgrade until it is less of a problem. That, or he or she can do something fatuous, and build a crap pc from parts that are either from a bad brand or already three years old and at the end of their life cycle. The kid should take precedence, but that is just my opinion.

does this board have a free multiplier? btw even if the answer is yes i wouldnt want to overclock with this board when i look at the uncooled power supply for the CPU.
and build a crap pc
so everything below a GTX980 is "crap"?

I don't recall saying that, what I did say was [sic] "That, or he or she can do something fatuous, and build a crap pc from parts that are either from a bad brand or already three years old and at the end of their life cycle." I do not even recall saying that the op should get my build. You and your fellow twit assumed this. The only real claim that I have made is, if money is a "big" issue, it is probably best that one does not go ahead with an expensive venture like upgrading a PC. When money is a "big" issue, and you are spending on recreational things for oneself, in my experience that usually means sacrificing something of more economic importance for said leisure item. However, as I already mentioned, that is merely my opinion.

Oh please spare me your self righteous indignation just because I commented on your post no need to get your panties in a bunch.

Nice, you've figured me out. Since you are obviously agitated (though I don't understand why) I will forgive you ![]()
But this does not change the fact that suggesting the GTX 980, under the conditions given in the OP, is bullshit.

This is why I recommended visiting a tech forum.
So OP can learn for himself, because even when you get an intensely opinionated forum discussion, over there it will come with more informations whom the OP can take and compare in favour of ignoring all of the rest and then make his/her own educated decision.

I didn't suggest the 980 in fact I was agreeing with you. You took it in the wrong context is all. My comment was more about if you're an enthusiast you're going to want to spend the extra money, because every fps you can squeeze out of a build is what you aim for. I made a post earlier in the thread suggesting she look for a computer store locally. I found one where I live and wouldn't shop for parts anywhere else. The store I deal with the guys know their shite and in fact they've actually talked me out of buying a part that was more expensive because I really wasn't gaining anything by spending the extra money.

Then everything is good. Still don't get your post fully though, but whatever.
As it seems most of us agree at least that she gets some info from elsewhere than here, from a source more qualified; be it a tech forum, some benchmarks, a computer store, or ideally she seeks out all of them to make her decisions.

I agree it was poorly worded. The thought I was trying to convey was if you've got the coin you get the best if you don't you get what you can afford. ![]()

If this is your first build look up a few videos. There are a few basic simple steps one should follow to avoid damaging the parts via electrostatic charges (I think that's the right term; basically you just have to stay grounded).
Naw, it's my third build for myself and I used to build computers for extra side cash a couple of years ago. People would bring me the parts and I'd put them together.

Oh I agree, I'm looking in multiple sources, no worries. I ask here also because this is the main game I'm upgrading for so the quality of play I can get from this game is important as are the opinions of those who are also playing this game.
Oh and I'm female. XD You can call me a dude if you want though, it's the internet, no biggie.

I'm not sacrificing anything. All money spent to upgrade my computer is from a budget specifically built for frivolities. All bills and important matters are taken care of first...however that frivolities budget is not very high because it's taken over a year of saving a little extra from each month to get it there. Seeing as my computer is starting to show her age, the game I started saving to upgrade for is out, and the budget is at a place where I feel I can do a decent job I decided to start gathering info now so I can take my time to make an informed decision.
I'm not just going to spend a week here and buy something that won't work. I'm looking in multiple sources and spending time thinking about what I can do with what I have that will be a quality purchase.
I honestly think that 900-1000 dollars should not be too low of a budget for a good gaming machine for my needs. As much of a gamer as I am I could never justify spending 1800+ dollars on a computer. To me that is something that only those with extremely good incomes or less outside responsibilities can do.

Just updated my rig. Works great. But you really should have tried to hit the Black Friday deals. Things will be a little more pricy now. Or at least you'll have to look a little harder.

That's good.
I just think the actual building requires a deft touch. I was terrified all throughout my first build that I would screw something up.
