Just decided to take a break from my first inquisitor (didn't finish the story yet) and try out female mage elf. I'm using the default voice and it is really good.

The male voice actor (default human) has moments where his tone isn't very convincing. The female however, until now at least, is very natural to the situation.

High five to the voice actor :)

(What is her name btw?)

The default for an elf would be the British accent, yes? That would be Alix Wilton Regan.

I think human and elf have different default and that's why I have the two voice actors in, but yea it's one of the two.

I'm pondering this aswell, I haven't finished my first playthrough yet (taking my time, mind you!) but I'm near the end. For some reason I don't want to finish it right now, but I do want to keep playing the game :D

Would it be a horrible sin to put my "canon" Inky on hold and try a new one? Perhaps elven one, 'cos it would be neat to see if people react differently. Or should I just finish my canon run and then start anew? Then again, the consensus seems to be that the female voices actors are doing a great job..

Damn you, Bioware, why must you give us different choices!

I really like the default voice as well, and currently using it for my 1st playthrough. Though I kinda wish they had an Irish accent option for the Elves. Not that all elves speak with an Irish accent, I just found it really cool in DA2.

I think the default/British male voice sometimes sounds a bit confused and constantly thinking about something. That fits the mage inquisitor great, but not sure it makes sense for Rogue or Warrior.

I don't like the british female accent that much... doesn't suit my character.

Alix did a fantastic job. Probably my favorite voice out of the four.

I do wish there could be more voice options but I can understand not having a pick out of 12 people lol it would be pretty expensive paying 12 different voice actors for one character

Looks like I'm the only one then who thinks the British female voice is awful...

She sounds exactly the same in every situation. She doesn't ask questions like a normal person. It always sounds like a recital. Her voice is so flat and boring. No amused chuckle, no sigh, no nothing. Maybe that's the reason I feel no emotional connection to my inquisitor at all. She's like a puppet to me...

I miss Jennifer Hale so so much *sigh* She brought Shepard to life. I suspect her voice acting is the reason I feel so emotional about my Shep.
And Mark Meer was so bad that playing male was a chore. ManShep was a zombie. FemShep was a person.
Picking the right voice actor for the protagonist is crucial. And they utterly failed with British female to my ears.

Every other voice actor in DAI is great. They convey a personality. Female inquisitor is soulless to me.
Doesn't matter which dialogue option I choose, there is no emotion behind it.
I mean, it's a nice voice. It sounds nice. But the voice actress can't work with her voice at all. It's really bothering me.

I really liked femHawke. At least I remember her voice as capable of conveying personality. And sarcastic male Hawke was great too.

Maybe the American voice is better... I'll play male though in my next playthrough. Perhaps this time the male voice acting is best. :/

Which one do you mean?

The American one from Saints Row is pretty good.

The British one makes me want to vomit. Some of the worst voice acting I've ever heard... :( She was good in ME3, it's a shame

It's absolutely fantastic. I'm not a big fan of the second option, but that being said it's not the worst. I find the first voice to be the perfect and I give major props to the voice actress.

I really like the british one, suits my magequisitor just fine. The right kind of ... sophistication of a noble woman raised in the circle. I consider her mostly perfect for softspoken, less aggressvie Quizzies though.

Just like in reality, the americans are just there for the harsh, brutish characters ! :D  Just kidding of course ...or was I?

Eu voice actess for elf isn't really convincing, like the moment when she meet the divine who is going to be sacrificed is... it turned me off how casually she said : "what's on here ?"

Hellooooo, the divine is being held captive! Be more suprised, please!

I don't mind the 'British' voice for the female Inquisitor.  There are a couple of moments the voice doesn't 'fit', but overall it is quite good.  I'm doing a run-through with the 'American' voice at the moment.  In the intro her voice sounded quite emotion-less, but it has definitely improved once out of the Intro...will see what the rest holds.

There was something fishy there with that scene. Because later...

Spoiler

I thought the same thing with the American actress at first, too.

I don't think Alix is that bad, but I agre that her acting is kinda flat - especially comparing to Traynor. Just feels like there were too many lines and to little time to do everything right.

And yes, finally someone, who hates Mark Meer. He ruined every moment of Mass effect, I will never play MaleShep anymore, because of him.

Nah, you are not, but the thing is, i am used to the german voice actress.. and in my opinion (i switched the language to check the english voice acting) she did a better job than the british VA. Imho Alix is trying to hard and sounds somewhat off in certain scenes.
