Since I have to actually wait for Hal Duncan's Vellum: The Book of All Hours to ship - and not patiently may I add :) - I am making progress with Sylvia Plath's Unabridged Journals, punctuated by Capote's In Cold Blood and Gaiman's Sandman series right now.

+ a Discworld lover, too.

"New Spring" by Robert Jordan.

And I'm also waiting for my copy of "The Calling". It should have arrived by now...:(

Same series as before, but I finished the one I was reading as well as Rediscovery, and am currently on The Shattered Chain.

For anybody interested in Baen-style Sci-Fi Fantasy, you can find 28 CD's worth of books that they put out for free here.

I'm re reading some classic David Gemmell, just finished Legend, now onto King beyond the gate. Fantasy at it's best!

He was my favourite writer. He spoiled fantasy for me by making other writers seem entirely mediocre in comparison. I'm re-reading White Wolf at the moment.

Finally finished Ascension not long ago. Picked up The Infernal City a few days ago. Only a chapter or so in, but it seems pretty good. The only downside might be that readers unfamiliar with the Elder Scrolls universe will probably be lost.

I need to get that Elder Scrolls book. For me though, I'm trying to re-read the Malazan Book of the Fallen series at the moment I decided that when I got the latest book, Dust of Dreams (which is a veritable bible and only the first half of the finale of the series!) that there was no chance I could remember the sprawling cast of characters and all that went on without getting through it all again. It's an intimidating task though, haven't really got into it with gusto yet..

I'm still working on the Darkover series again; now on The Heritage of Hastur. I haven't been reading as much as I usually do of late.

~Throws holy water on the undead thread~

Right now I'm reading Mad Maria. It's a quasi-historic novel about the building of a railroad in Brazil, and the intrigues and drama between the characters involved.

Cool, what did you think of them?

I'm currently reading Leviathan by Scott Westerfield

A alternate history version of WW1 based around the fictional son of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and Europe is divided into two Factions: The Clankers, countires with highly develop steam technology and machines and The Darwinists, countries following the theories of Charles Darwin with mutated and genetically altered animals.
It's quite a light read and the detailed pencil illustrations are quite beautiful.

Stealing Light is ok a space opera goes, funny how some ideas go around in circles as it's plot is based around 'makers' tech. being used by later races...

The 'Watch' series are interesting & quite fun takes on the good/evil light/dark concepts with some twists, but the 'Last Watch' is weaker and althought it ends the sequence it is obvoiusly a cash in on the success of the first 2 after the films were released outside Russia.

Also just finished 'Altered Carbon' - Richard K. Morgan, reminded me alot of 'Deus Ex' ...

And I'm almost finished with Dan Browns: The Lost Symbol.

The Steel Remains by Richard K. Morgan. Sword and Sorcery tale in a similar style to Joe Abercrombie's First Law books.

AND

The Complete Hammer's Slammers by David Drake. I like to have a short story collection on hand for when I feel like reading something different from what I am currently on. Quality military sci-fi is always cool.
