Actually they could make it meaningful by providing a bonus if your character is at or above the weapon's level requirement and a penalty if you are using an item with a higher level requirement than your character's level.  Unfortunately that is far too complicated for such a simple multiplayer mode, which is why I suggested tiers.  At this point there is no simple solution.

Bioware tried to take the easy way out by converting single player items into multiplayer ones and the result is something that requires a complete overhaul.  This is something that should have been changed during development but instead it may never get fixed because it is simply too much work for a game mode that is likely failing to generate any meaningful revenue.  The lack of weekend events and the unfinished state of the HQ website really shows this community how unprepared Bioware was with DAMP.  They even had an extra month of development time and they still were not ready for launch.  I enjoy DAMP but it is a complete mess.

Yeah, I agree...don't want to seem too much like a negative nancy though, otherwise our concerns will just be overlooked as "toxic".  Unfortunate that no amount of analysis, suggestions or reasoning is enough to actually make a difference.  Gotta just play the hand you're dealt I guess, in this case it seems like deadlines are the cause.

Some people in this thread claim that loot gets better based upon prestige. I was ~20th place when I opened 100 boxes and it seemed about the same odds of getting good items as any of my other chests.

And I have to say, for bioware to punish or reward people with loot based upon prestige requires a level of malevolent intelligence that bioware doesn't possess.

Easiest solution right now would be a crafting system that has RNG rarity, but your level of materials controls the item level range of the crafted weapon? Weapon crafting exists in SP and I can only imagine weapon crafting is left out at this stage as they are seeing how things go / tuning?

Even one of the loading menu info cards says something like 'Complete challenges to unlock banners, icons and schematics' as far as I know, no challenges actually unlock schematics at this stage correct?

I really hope I'm not being too optimistic with this.

Prestige level/leaderboard ranking/challenge progress in NO way affects your chests, as far as I have seen.  Thats a nice sentiment, thinking that you would be rewarded for your PROGRESSION (hint bioware hint) but right now, its all just random.

and yes sectiplaveB4, there are no unlockable schematics right now.  Everything that you see in the MP is all thats there.

Yea I burned out much quicker than I'd hoped to, due to the abhorrent loot system.  I only got 1 nice item (a ring) in the last week with ~10 hrs a day played.  Not enough to keep me interested.  Way too much time spent, never did get the item I cared to have (a nice dagger).  Oh well.

Bad loot system?

I get like 3 purples per chest these days. Shame 95% of them are completely useless and outclassed by higher level whites and blues.

Yeah it is a terrible loot system. I mean how happy would you be to get 3 ultra rares in 1 pack in ME3MP? When I opened this pack, my reaction was just 'oh thats a decent shield I guess'.
