what bonus powers do you use when playing as a sniper soldier?

- Fortification, if you want to survive longer and increase the damage output from your bonus powers.
- Defense Matrix, if you want a button for quick shield restoration. However, at level 6, Adrenaline Rush has the shield boost option, which makes Defense Matrix redundant and Fortification a better option.
- Energy Drain, for stripping the shields and stunning the enemy before the shot.
- Marksman, if your sniper rifle has more than one shot per clip. Works well with the Indra.

I'll add a few other options

I used Flare on my last Soldier run. You can drastically decrease its long cooldown with Adrenaline Rush and it works quite well. It's quite damaging against shields and detonates biotic explosions. It also staggers enemies allowing you for less risky shots. I used Saber but upgraded and appropriately modded Viper is pretty much the same. 

Another notable power to consider is Slam. With Cryo Ammo and Concentrator Mod you can do things like this (Viper works best for this IMO)

Mainly depends on the specific weapon.

 

For the single shot SR's I would favor Energy Drain, even though it is a tech power.  Alternative combat power might be Fortification (for more power and ammo damage), or Proximity Mine to lower shields a little and debuff.  With Fortification you can use Amplified Concussive Shot to reduce shields to get more one-shot kills.

 

Marksman would work with any other sniper rifle.

 

Then if you aren't worried as much specifically about your rifle's damage, you could go with practically anything.

For snipers, I would use Energy Drain (for easier shielded enemy kills with the Mantis/Widow) or Fortification.

 

I used Fortification on my last Sniper Soldier run, and have played around with Energy Drain too with excellent results.

Only Fortification's Power Damage bonus at rank 5 increase Ammo Power damage.

 

Defense Matrix's power damage bonus is strictly for Tech powers, and Barrier increases all power damage except for ammo powers.

Good info, I always suspected that.
Soldier's Incendiary Ammo with Fortification off: Health & Armor Damage Bonus 33%.
Soldier's Incendiary Ammo with Fortification on: Health & Armor Damage Bonus 42%.
Vanguard's Incendiary Ammo with Barrier off: Health & Armor Damage Bonus 29%.
Vanguard's Incendiary Ammo with Barrier on: Health & Armor Damage Bonus 29%.

 

But I still use Barrier on my Vanguard, because it looks damn good. :P

Say I'm a Sentinel using Liara's squad warp ammo.  Would tech armor and barrier's increased power damage evolutions enhance the warp ammo I'm getting off of Liara?

No. 

 

If you (as Shepard) are receiving the ammo power as a squad bonus from a squadmate, you cannot increase the ammo power's damage through Fortification, Tech Armor, or Pistol/SMG Power Amplifier mods, or from Shepard-only power damage bonuses from your class passive.

 

You may be able to increase the power damage if you are a non-Soldier by taking rank 5 Squad Bonus evolution in your class passive to increase squadmate power damage (assuming it actually works). If the squadmate has a power damage outfit, that should increase its power damage as well.

 

Note that as Shepard, Intel and Armor do not increase the power damage of ammo powers; only power damage bonuses in the class passive, Fortification, Tech Armor (Sentinel only), and the Pistol/SMG Power Amplifier mods.

Energy Drain > Slam. It's super-useful, especially on Insanity, where you'll find tons of shielded/barrier-ed enemies. And if you want a power to help your sniping, Stasis is way better anyway.

 

Truth is that while I loved Slam in ME2, I just don't get the same pleasure in ME3's. They should have never touched that amazing "take that, ***hole!" animation when using it :P Plus, ME3 has a myriad of more interesting powers than that one (in fact, I'm personally pretty much limited to Lash, Flare and Dominate, as with all the others I just can use my squadmates when I want them (well, except for powers llike Barrier and Energy Drain, which only affects you, of course)).
