I like the warriors and rogues, gameplay wise. Mage probably fits the story best.
If you're banging Solas, then yes I could see that benefiting the story more, but otherwise, the non mage side seems more appropriate to me with two of the three decisions in relation to mages being templar esque. Conscripting them or abandoning them in favor of the templars. The inquisition is also made of some ex templars, and replacing the templars in duty to the chantry, even if we're not actually serving the chantry. If that makes sense.
Basically, it's like Dorian said. Chantry's written all over our faces whether they like it or not. A non mage inquisitor for that reason, even a templar inquisitor, seems very appropriate, considering all the demon slaying and such.

Are you all cray? Lol, Champion warrior or go home. Yea you can solo a dragon with knight enchanter. So? Morrigan did that already since Origins, one shotting that dragon with lightning. (Lets be honest, the other's attacks barely did ****).
But here... the Inquisitor can solo dragons with sword and shield, up close and personal. Now that's the stuff of legends. "To the death" and "walking fortress" are so unbelievably boss, it's hardly even fair. I'd say those two classes are the most boss in their respective categories.
It's good to be Champion!

I can't speak for the class to play as (I hear it's Knight Enchanter, but I haven't tried it outside of speccing Vivienne that way) but for me, thus far my favorite has been the rapetrain that is a DPS Reaver. I feel like Mr. Hyde every time I get into combat, and it's awesome. Of course, when I hit the conversation with Cassandra where
SpoilerI felt like a crack addict going, "Yeah, no, yeah, I'm totally fine, no worries, don't even - I just - I'm cool, man, I'm totally cool and stuff." *Sniff* "You smell dragon blood?" * Sniiiiiiff* "Smells good."
It's such a rush everytime you charge into battle as a reaver.
I feel like Pagan Mins' words are fitting for every scenario as a Reaver. "You and I, are going to tear **** up!"

I don't like the mage animations, so it's sword and shield warrior. I prefer the templar spec.

Reaver / Assassin pretty much destroys anything.

I KNOW, right?! I think next time I play I'm just going to start screaming, "I AM GROOT!" We'll see if the neighbors complain.

I prefer the Templar spec for CC and buff, and eventhough I am currently hard to kill and do hit harder, Blackwall as Champion is actually unkillable.
On hard both him and I can solo dragons.

Actually, this kind of encourages me when you state it that way.
I said mage was good for the story, but that didn't mean I liked the idea. I don't want that to be the case. I want everything to feel right.

Rogue Tempest is pretty good too. The Thousand Cuts focus ability is insane.

I played a Necromancer as my first playthrough and while fun I just felt weak. And... Not that glorious actually.
My current playthrough is an tempest archer which is just so much fun. I love my character, I love her class, and it just fits so nicely when you're playing Dalish. I even feel that it's better to romance Solas as not-mage class(read:rogue archer, screw warriors).

I enjoy playing mage, tho rift /fire mage isn't so powerfull damage wise like in previous games or I remember wrong. o.O
I gave a Cole some nice daggers, switched to him while battle and I must say I really like rogue and will be most likely playing one next time. Damage compared to mage is amazing and it's fast and dynamic combat as well. Third class would be 2h warrior for just smashing all things around and epic destroying walls with 1 kick. XD
*Tried archer too, class is good but not too many skills for archer. Assassin/rogue have much more skill they can use and I like it more.

I understand. I just stated that because people keep saying that mage is best for canon inquisitor, and it honestly feels opposite. To me, the only way a mage inquisitor feels absolutely appropriate, is as I said, if you're banging Solas. Otherwise to me, with how Chantry esque we are, a mage feels very out of place vs a warrior or templar.
If that encourages you, then I'm glad, as a fellow non twinkle finger fighting soldier ![]()

Sorry to derail, but what's bothering me now is wondering what a plausible age is for non-mage Trevelyan (others don't cause an issue for me here). The description sounds a little too much on the young side. Too specific.

lol. I actually emailed David Gaider about this. Doubt I'll get a reply. It's just kind of weird that we're at the Conclave in the interests of family. Does that mean we're not Chantry members yet?
Yea, they did say we were the youngest... In which case, my other siblings must be close in age or old bags, because my Quizzy looks close to forty.
