I'm stuck on this one part of the game....simply put I'm on "In Your Heart Shall Burn" Story mission I'm guessing I'm near the end where I have to turn the cannon 3 of my party members are low on health , I'm near the middle of health , we only have 1 Health potion and 4 Rock armor potions.

And I'm the party's tank , Varric is range along with Dorian as our Barrier support/Ice damager and BlackWall as our BattleMaster.

Edit: I'm also playing on Nightmare.

Check around haven you may have missed a supply box. I did this quest too early and was screwed like that too. But I wanted the trophy and refused to Lower the difficulty. While kiting around Fiona's men (supported Templars) in haven I found supplies.

Have you beat the game on Normal?

Have you beat the game on Hard?

If the answer is yes then I would say keep going on Nightmare. It is meant to be that difficult, however so you really have to plan ahead. But the whole point is trying to overcome such a nearly impossible challenge.

Try to figure out new tactics and strategies for the battle. Or if you have to you may need to load up a previous save and try things differently. Maybe a different setup, different talents, different party members. Check in on some of the tactics people are discussion on these forums. There are many different things you can try to help you beat this.

For that part of the game specifically I can offer a few recommendations.

Prior to heading into the Chantry once the attack begins (where you can save the townsfolk) there are a number of supply caches you can use along the way. The ones outside of the main wall (Like that last trebuche and near where the blacksmith is) won't be available after you head back out of the Chantry. Make careful use of those two specifically for the first part but leave the other two alone until you get to the part where you have to aim the final trebuche. That way you can go all the way  back up the path and refill your potions between waves.

Also, I find I almost always end up with two tanks in this part of the fight. Iron Bull and either Cassandra or Blackwall - usually Cassandra for my other tank since for whatever reason she tends to have more survivability at that level. Iron Bull can do some decent damage and still pull threat, your third companion will depend on whether you're playing a mage and want to handle barriers yourself or not.

These are just some of my ideas but I would recommend trying different things to see what works best for you.

(p.s. That said, my next play through will be a Nightmare run when I will be making things even more challenging by bringing in companions based purely on what makes the most sense RP wise, especially when it creates sub-optimal party compositions. )

If you really want to cheese it, hide in one of the burning buildings.. Make your guys stay inside and rekt them one by one..

I bet I know the part you're on, lol. I got in a tough spot at the very last fight when the templars come in waves on hard. First time I played, I lowered it to normal before that fight because I was fed up with all the little quests and fighting and wanted to hurry and see what the game had to offer.

Second playthrough after finding out I loved the game, I took my time on hard and was pleasantly surprised to find that fight was somewhat challenging.

What I did was ignore the templars on my way to the catapult and made sure to use up all available potions by fighting the templar waves before picking up the supply crate and restoring my supply. That's it. Gotta know how to pick your battles and how to make your supplies last.

I too was my party's main tank, and I had Cassandra, Solas and Dorian with me, but in retrospect should have taken Blackwall instead of one of the mages. But regardless, I got past that fight easily enough from then.

I had to lower the difficulty once, vs this envy demon (bossfight in "Champions of the Just"), so ****** unfair and overpowered... on hard

I never did that mission personally. Always went with the mages due to roleplay reasons, as well as it just seems like that's what the game intended. From what I've heard, the Templar side's a lot more dull and straightforward. Hard to beat travelling back in time.

The Templar side is pretty underrated but that's cause most people sympathize with the mages and never actually try the Templar side.

I honestly don't sympathize with them. I did, up until they sided with Tevinter, and I don't care if from their pov, it seemed the best bet. Traitors are traitors, which is why I conscript them.

I just find it hard to pass up time travel

After what happened in DA2 with Mages it's hard for me to side with them now....damn it Anders I TRUSTED YOU! T-T

My advice for IYHSB on Nightmare is to take it slow and prioritize your enemies. Get rid of the archers first. They're still the deadliest enemies, because they're hard hitting and they flank relentlessly. You'll be dead before you figure out what happened.

If it helps, before aiming the trebuchet, look for a supply cache. They're all over the place, but usually inconspicuous and easily missed.

It's actually the opposite. The templar path owns the mage path (mainly due to Fiona's idiocy) and it was very fulfilling disbanding and recruiting the Order in Theirinfal as a mage.

I'm a warrior, so that angle's not there for me.

I like the mage side because my character was supposed to serve as a templar, which is why he was sent to the conclave (a lot more to it, but I won't bore you with personal backstory). But anyway, he sympathized with mages from the start, so I like that this sentiment gets betrayed and that I'm driven to actually conscript them, acting like the Templars despite my desire to be different. So for my story personally, it always made more sense to go after the mages. The fact that this seemed like the wrong decision after their betrayal was like icing on the cake for the character's development.

Always have your party members drink up before you pick up your supply cache.
