Same outfit, different look?

Perhaps someone can help me understand why the same armour looks different on my Inquisitor and on Vivienne. Worse, it looks tons better on Vivienne. Here's how the armour looks on me:

And here's how it looks on Vivienne:

I'd say that's a heck of a lot of difference for the SAME armour. Any ideas?

Except for the unique armors, every party member has their own armor style, so any crafted/looted armor will change their appearance to match that character looks.

Could we please have anyone else's style? So far, the armours for mages (and I have quite a few), be it elf or human, look terrible. Why can't I craft the armour to look like Vivienne's?

It would be nice to have some variation on the Inquisitor's armor, maybe not all of the styles but a couple of them. However I really like the idea of having different outfits for each character. It's a nice way of allowing you to modify your allies armor while keeping each character overall design.

You appear to be an elf..

Get the Dalish Scout armor from the Hissing Waste, it is merrill's intial armor from DA:2, get the keeper armor from Exalted Plains, it is merrill's relationship armor from DA:2.

Thanks, I'll do that! Though I'll probably need silverite for the scout armor, right?

They should make the party member's outfits available for the inquisitor, since they probably won't do a rework of the present armor styles. Hugest problem is the cloth and mid armor.

I'd like my mage to have Vivienne's armor style, these are (very cool looking) ROBES, not that thing the inquisitor wears. I mean for the start the default armors look good, but they keep this style throughout the game.

And I don't understand why my assassin sometimes gets the same armor design like a tank. She should rather wear something like Sera does, or that thing those white assassins were wearing at the celena/briala story quest etc.

Someone posted a screen of some plate armor on Vivienne, looking sooo badass, but she will never be able to wear it! Why?!:D I mean there are cool designs in the game, I want it for my inquisitor. My party should look worse than me :P

YES!

It's been bothering me more and more how Vivienne rocks everything she wears and I'm stuck in the same ugly coat, just in different colours. She gets to wear sexy thigh boots and all I get are these blocky metal grieves - which I guess might look okay on a male inquisitor, but they're not exactly flattering on a female one. The inquisitor wears barely noticeable little gloves and she gets fully armoured gauntlets with big shiny pauldrons. It's bothered me a lot in these recent bioware games (namely ME2/3 and DA2) being forced to dress less stylishly and more masculine than my female companions. Not to say that I'd want to be forced to dress ultra-feminine (I know a lot of women on the forums only seem to want to wear big manly plate armor), but I want the option to be there.

Personally, I like that the Inquisitor has their own personal style as well as the companions. It would just be strange if everyone looked the same.

As for the armors like warden armor and templar armor, I like that those armors are themselves distinct and it stays that way. Iconic is iconic for a reason after all.

I like how, if you craft things for each member of your party, you can give the same armor to everyone and it adopts their personal style. Keeps you looking like a team. Without it being a uniform. Just my couple of pennies.

I get the "individual style for the inquisitor thing" but create one as pretty as the companion's. And there has to be a more epic look at the end of your journey. Not standard armor with some minor details.

No.

Silverite is for removing class restrictions on Warrior armor.
Snoufleur Skin is for removing class restrictions on Rogue armor.
Dales Loden Wool is for removing class restrictions on Mage armor.

I shall edit with pictures in a moment

Dalish Scout armor

Dalish mage (keeper) armor

It is important to note, both armors looks different on a male compared to a female.

It is both sets of merrills armor from DA:2.

Scout - initial green chain
Keeper - Romanced white armor

I'm not certain I'd phrase it that way but certainly, "I should look better than my party." ;)

I would LOVE for my rogue Inquisitor to be able to wear the Harlequin armor and mask.

I'm playing a Dalish Rogue now and the first armour I get to craft looks suspiciously similar to the mage one, minus a few variations:

I can only hope there's some larger difference between mage and rogue armours.

I know at least male inquisitor mages have sweet t3 shoulderpads.

Prepare for shoulder pads as variation. Or chain shirts. There is nothing more. There is the warden armor with a huge plate for your chest which looks really rogue-y ...not. There are designs for mid armor that share the appearance of cloth and plate. As I wrote several times, I don't understand it...

You have to play around with the arms and legs a lot to get good matching outfits.

I find that often the tier plays a part as well as the style, for instance the Tier 3 Battlemaster Coat arms and legs go a heck of a lot better with the tier 2 Vanguard Coat body than they do with the Battlemaster Armor they come with. Perversely the Battlemaster Armor body works best with the Defender Mail Arms and Vanguard Mail boots!

I can't believe we're going to be stuck with the same armours regardless of class. Mods can't come soon enough.

Ugh, I just realized they might even sell us outfit DLCs. <_<

The sad part is I'm probably really willing to pay for unique Qunari armors...

The armor in DAI is the single greatest disappointment, i like that the player and companions have their own look, but my god the choice in crafted armor is just too few, and if you play a qunari its even less.
