I'm going nuts trying to figure out how to delete a sound or placeable--it sure isn't any of the usual ways to delete something.

It is the same.  Select the sound or placeable, and hit the delete key.  If you're not able to select them, possibly you have those item types marked as unselectable in the menu.  If all else fails, you should be able to select them through the Area Contents palette and delete them from there.

Okay it worked, thanks. Now how do I open the creature appearance wizard?

I never use the creature appearance wizard, as it seems to crash every time for me.  I change a creature's appearance in the properties palette with the creature selected.  By splitting the Armour Set tab on the properties palette into a separate palette to view side by side, you can get fast visual feedback on your appearance changes, though you may have to reclick on the creature to make them show up.

You can select the creature then right-click: the Appearance Wizard... option is down near the bottom of the pop-up menu. But, like Tchos says, it has a tendency to hang the toolset. If I use it, I try to do so right after I launch the toolset as that is when it seems the most reliable.

Same as Tchos and rjshae: each time I used it, the toolset crashed. So I now work directly from the blueprint (like Tchos said, opening a new window to show the appearance while changing the numbers in the other tab).

When I googled the CAW, that was all I could find--how screwed up it was. The side-by-side thing sounds good.
