Not really but I have to say that during the fade quest it was fantastic to hear my sarcastic Hawke.

You have terrible taste.
I would not say it's the worst game ever but the re use of environments, being stuck to three personalities, Hawke being too reactive, not alot of convos with the companions and act 3 do bring it down and does not come close to DAO or DAI.

Then again his role was never that important in the grand scheme of things-accodrding to Flemeth I think

I wasn't trying to troll. If I remember the thread asked if we thought Hawke should have been the focus of this game, I don't. I am one of the blasphemers who hates Dragon Age 2, oh sue me.

Wish Hawke had a bigger role than what they gave him. Hawkes cameo wasn't as good as Morrigan.

I enjoyed my Hawke getting her redemption for her mistakes and admitting she made mistakes while also helping me in the siege. Fighting alongside her and Loghain was fantastic.

It's funny in some ways because I remember reading someplace that in the original concept for DA:I, Hawke was again going to be the protagonist as they wanted to create another "Shepard-like" character saga for Dragon Age. However, the choice came to great a new protagonist was agreed upon because they feared DA:I would be too far linked to the bad reputation that DA:2 got even if Hawke was well liked by the fans.
I wonder now how much of that rumor is actually true.

It's false, DA2 was going to get an expansion that would set up DAI but was cancelled so Asunder was written.

Ah, ok. I'm actually glad to hear that rumor isn't true. That would have really been upsetting.

No everything would've ended in angst if he did.

I never liked DA2 and Hawke had a lot to do with it. Hawke felt too much like trying to force a certain type of character and narrative into the RPG game.

Specifically Hawk? No, not so much... but about an Inquisitor with a defined back story and personality, yea, I'd have preferred that. I also would have been quite happy with Hawk as a permanent companion, complete with his/hr own story missions.
I do admit liking the idea of Hawke being a companion, was hoping he was a secret companion when after seeing him in the trailers.

I didn't like Hawke. She wasn't my avatar, she was an annoying stranger whose dialogue I had only a tenuous control over if any.
I left her in the Fade.

It would not work though as Hawke is a horrible leader. Hawke failed to protect her own city and familly, you really expect Hawke to be able to lead a group like the inquisition?
It adds depth. Hawke's burden, failure. The reunion with Corypheus, when the likes of Cassandra and Leliana found out that it was Hawke who released Cory and ultimately lead to all this. Imagine if Hawke didnt kill Anders, maybe remain Ander's lover. All that drama is possible only because of Hawke's weakness. Maybe in DAI we can see Hawke grow and that would be interesting.
I understand why people would not like this because many feel that "Hawke is not their character". I however would love to play in the shoes of Hawke, the one person who is in the middle of all this.

Well, in essence, Legacy was a DA2 DLC that set up DAI... at least concerning the big bad.

DA2 had flaws. Yes. Hawke was not one of them. Especially not for the stupid reasons people have for not liking him (all of which boil down to "he doesn't win").
The Inquisitor is flat and dull. Even most of the "Clever" lines are flat and dull. I get that people are squeeing because they can be a dwarf again or whatever ( and I do like the Vashoth option as well), but being a dwarf or Vashoth or whatever with the personality of a dishrag is a little disappointing too.

That's your opinion really, my Inquisitor was not dull at all.

That's the thing though... some people want dull/flat characters to better put them self into their shoes, so to speak. Personally, I always preferred characters with a set personality (like Hawke or Shepard), since I never was able to really identify with the "token" characters in BW games in the first place... their stories are simply to restrictive to really play "yourself", so playing a character that is "part of the story" works somewhat better.

Then make the protagainist silent then. Voicing the protagainist but giving them no personality fails both camps.

Well more I like characters where I can create their own character, I never roleplay my self in rpgs, I prefer making new characters. I was able to do this with the Warden and Inquisitor(was able to make many different wardens and two Inqusitiors are vastly different with more planned in the future), I liked Hawke but she was just too predetermined for my liking as a PC and she was too reactive for my liking.

I enjoyed both games, but I'm glad I got to play a new protagonist. The little cameos by my Hawkes were good enough for me. Except for Keep bugging out and making my canon Hawke a sword/shield warrior instead of a duel wielding rogue, the personality was spot on, even down to the 'hatred of blood magic'. I just 'head canon' that Kit was doing a horrible Aveline impersonation to travel incognito.
While the whole Corypheus, templar/mage conflict and wardens aspect would have worked nicely (regardless of which fate your sibling came out with) with Hawke, I am glad on the whole, that they were far removed from that conflict in the story.
Hawke's tale was done. In my first game, it was Stroud I left behind, in my second, it was Hawke--I admit I only did it because it was Alistair this time and to see the Varric hug. This run it will be Loghain who dies in obscurity in my campaign.
