At some point I would really love to hear what the Exalted March Expansion was intended to be exactly.DA2 would certainly make more sense as an extended prologue than as the shaggy dog story it ended up as.
I recall that was a big criticism of the DA2 ending, the frame narrative and all made it feel like a prologue to something bigger.

True, nothing beats Femhawkes snarky humor.
I dunno manhawke does some good snark sometimes too. I just think overall manhawke is way better at diplomatic, and a 1000x better than borquisitor.

My inquisitor was a very bad inquisitor. He was collecting shard in the hinterland for week.

Never. I don't like Hawke. She was a failure from the start and I didn't care to ever see her again either but you have to in DAI.

Yes and no. I would trade the Inquisitor for Hawke in a heartbeat but at the same time I'm glad that Dragon Age doesn't use recurring PCs - Mass Effect barely made it work and even then it was still pretty bad (e.g. ME2 squadmates being swept under a rug). If DAI wasn't a game then Hawke would have been perfect as the main character.

Well, my dear Jillian Hawke ran away with Anders after having helped to ignite a Mage revolution, I don't suppose that there's a way back once one stains their hands this much. I love the character and I wish her all the best but I just don't see her being the main protagonist again. Sometimes we just have to accept the story is over and just let go.

No thanks. Hawke has had enough to deal with helping Kirkwall. She can't be the Inquisitor too.

I love these " Hawke is a terrible leader" nonsense, DA 2 would have ended the same no matter who the protagonist was, be it your inquisitor , the Warden or Chuck Norris because thats how Bioware decided the story was going to go just like DA I would have gone in the same direction even if Hawke was the inquisitor.
Anyways it would have been interesting to see Cassandra get her hands on Hawke after the conclave explosion , she already thought he was guilty of a lot of things.

Hawke was unlucky, not incompetent. At least, not more than others. In DAO my Amell helped Jowan escape only to learn that he was responsible for poisoning Eamon and causing Connor's possession. She had no idea how to handle the landsmeet. She was terrified of everything. The only difference is that DAO let you fix things in the end. If we were able to save the other sibling from the ogre, reach Leandra in time and stop Anders, people wouldn't complain.
I think the devs wanted to show that no matter how hard one tries, some things just can't be changed. And it backfired. Still, I liked Hawke as a protagonist and having to lead the inquisition would have made for some interesting personal growth.

At this point, I do because I feel less attached to the Inquisitor than I'll ever be with my Hawke.
Thats because Hawke is a much better designed character then the Inquisitor. Rags to riches story, fleeing Lothering and becoming Champion of Kirkwall and all that. The Inquisitor rises to power to quickly for my tastes. Within 15 minutes you are one of the leaders of the Inquisition with hardly any back story. With Hawke you had to toil away a bit first to get into the city, and then Act 1 you were basically a nobody, and it wasn't till Act 2 you started to get some notority. One thing they did right with in DA:2 was designing Hawke's character. The diplomatic, sarcastic, and straightforward options were fantastic and the fact that your personality would show through in cut scenes and random dialog bits really helped with the immersion.
DA:I doesn't seem to do that nearly as well. Most of the time there is no sarcastic answer, and the diplomatic and straight-forward answers aren't as clear cut. In fact sometimes I would click on a straight-forward answer only to have my Inquisitor be diplomatic and vice-versa. Also it doesn't seem the personality you choose effects your automated responses in any way.

I would love to see a DLC where Hawke can become your companion after Adamant, it would be so epic IMO to have the protagonist of your earlier game as a companion in the current one. One of the benefits of DA:2s lack of choice is that Hawke is fleshed out. You couldn't make a companion out of the Warden there are just too many choices and variables to account for.

Hawke was a nice character, but still I like the idea that every DA story has it's own main character.
The only thing is that being the only possible choice for the player in DA2 Hawke story was more carefully planned. The inquistor story is nice, but the range of options gave to the player about the race made difficult for writers to go very deep for each inquisitor.
They did a nice job anyways...

I'm going to assume that this topic has already come up but since I've been playing the game, I've avoided this channel in the forums.
Anyways, despite the problems with DA:2, I really LOVED Hawke as the PC, the character development, personality, everything. I also think that DA:I would be more fitting with Hawke as the inquisitor when considering he/she fought Cory in the previous game. Outside of Shepard, Hawke is my most beloved game character and to be honest, I'm kinda sad that BioWare didn't continue with his/her story for DA:I as well.
Any of you feel the same way?
While I would indeed like to see more character continuity in this series (and it's what makes the Mass Effect series great), it's clear Bioware is going for a different approach with Dragon Age. I'm not as big a fan of this approach, but on the other hand I like that Bioware are trying different things with their different franchises. I don't think anyone wants a return to the rut of "Do these four things in Act 2".

There is a bit of truth here ... I think DAI should have had at least some kind of prologue. Not at the conclave itself, but before you went there. Mages could have a short adventure while travelling there, with their fellow mage-rebels for example. Or the mercenary-group the Qunari are supposed to be part of.
Just stuff to give a bit of background to the chars without too much detail. I think that one was a huge part why so many people have fond memories of Origins. Its simply a difference (for me at least) to see you Cousland family all die in the beginning. Even though its only short and we hardly now the whole family its emotional enough I think.
Maybe give us a prologue (flashback)-DLC where we can play the pre-stories of each char, and what they did exactly prior to the whole conclave-explosion?
