I recall their stats showed that most people only played one origin in DAO, so it's likely not considered being worth the resources.

Really if we played Hawke again we would have either gotten very few new companions or people would be pissed because X is not there or their LI did not get a spot. These are the same issues that plagued by ME, having a new protag each game is simply smarter.

Except every companion at least had some kind of appearance in Mass Effect, whereas in Dragon Age it can range from a War Table mission to five seconds of screentime or a letter.

Nah, Hawke was a prize idiot in DA2.

Naw. As much as I love Hawke, she needs a vacation. All the heroes can't be everywhere for everything.

I did the same thing, but his vacation was eternal.

Never thought about it, but I'll admit, it would have been nice if Hawke led the Inquisition and was able to take credit for what they achieved, to make up for the failures that stand out.

Why? Hawke is useless. If Inquisition was about Hawke, the ending would have Cory win no matter what you do.

Not necessarily. People lost faith in Hawke because it wasn't the Grey Warden 2.0 they expected. He or she could've done better in a sequel, given th right opportunities. The reason why he or she wasn't succesful in the second game wasn't because of the player, it was because that's how the writers intended the story to proceed.

I feel like a lot of people sort of missed the point of Dragon Age 2, which was about an individual affecting the lives of others, but powerless in the face of historical and social forces. I found Hawke a refreshing change in this regard, they tried to do good for the people they cared about, but they weren't a demigod.

It would have been the best fit seeing as how you cannot wash the stink of "Herald of Andraste" away no matter what race you are.

Why not bring in the Andrastian Human Champion?

I wonder exactly what the Exalted March DLC (I think that was what it was called?) would have been like.  Maybe it would have been much of DAI on a smaller scale.  Hawke chasing Coryphennus while dodging the chantry's march on kirkwall, realizing red lyrium is even worse than they thought.  I wish that hadnt been cancelled.  I'm not entirely satisfied by Hawke's treatment in DAI and I would have preferred to wrap that up first, but I am glad they weren't the PC this time around.  I enjoy starting fresh each game.

I loved Hawke too but tbh, it's good that DA doesn't follow the same protag over and over.

I'd rather the DA2 expansion happen than Hawke as the Inquisitor

Hawke is very skilled fighter, but not a leader

. He just needs to seize to exist.

Actually that should be cease to exist.   If he was seizing....he would have his own army and take over the castle.

I'm going to assume that this topic has already come up but since I've been playing the game, I've avoided this channel in the forums.

Anyways, despite the problems with DA:2, I really LOVED Hawke as the PC, the character development, personality, everything.  I also think that DA:I would be more fitting with Hawke as the inquisitor when considering he/she fought Cory in the previous game.  Outside of Shepard, Hawke is my most beloved game character and to be honest, I'm kinda sad that BioWare didn't continue with his/her story for DA:I as well.

Any of you feel the same way?

Nope. Don't like Hawke and never want to see the idiot ever again.

I do love my Hawke, far more than my Inquisitors or Wardens but.... being the Herald of Andraste would utterly destroy him. Being the Champion of Kirkwall was hard enough on him, I don't think he could handle the pressure of entire nations and so much responsibility very well. (Am I gonna write AU fic about it tho and make myself cry? Absolutely.) He hated being the Champion because it felt like a lie to him. How could he be a Champion when he failed to save the people he cared about most? Being the Herald would just... exacerbate his impostor syndrome.

I didn't like the Inquisitor. We don't need four voice options that all come off as flat. I liked the Hawkes because the voices had more emotion behind them, whether it was snarky or renegade. I felt like it would have made more sense for Hawke to join the Inquisition after the fade and be sent around for War Table missions, then abruptly appear to help fight Cory. And giving a pre-mortem one liner.

I was sad that nobody I helped came to fight the end boss with me. (Tho we got SOME of that at the Temple of Mythal) But that was one of my favorite parts of the ending of DA2, seeing people like Donnic, Zevran, and Nathaniel show up to help save the day. Where's Hawke and Fairbanks and Fiona? And the rest of my friends? XD

I really liked Hawke too, but I strangely enjoy the fact that DA changes its protagonists every game and I had a blast with my Inquisitor(s).

It's a little contradictory to what I just said, but I'd actually like having the Inquisitor as the protagonist of the next game, just because their story more than the others feels like it has the global impact necessary to be carried on to a sequel. I'm fine with where my HoF and Hawke left their stories and enjoy their cameos and peripheral inclusion, but don't really feel the need to return to them as the PCs. They're more regional heroes, whereas the Inquisitor's influence is far-reaching.

All I want for Christmas is Hawke as protag, instead all I'm getting is the lump of coal known as the Inquisitor. Being on the naughty list isn't what it's all cracked up to be.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that whole final sequence was rushed.

I think they went in the right direction with a new protagonist but that doesn't mean I don't miss my Hawke(s).

Blah. In all likelihood Hawke would be the Inquisitor, if Bioware had had time to implement different race options in DA2. They weren't given a lot to work with.

Specifically Hawk? No, not so much... but about an Inquisitor with a defined back story and personality, yea, I'd have preferred that. I also would have been quite happy with Hawk as a permanent companion, complete with his/hr own story missions.

Pretty much. I like the Inquisitor, especially molding who she is, but there isn't enough of that. Whereas the Warden was silent, but you could mold them better. "I found your pet nug you sent me after ... and it was delicious." Quizzy is kind of a one trick pony. Is she or isn't she? An interesting question and fun to deal with, but there isn't much beyond that.
