Isabela's the best pirate to come out of that place. She deserves a museum in her honor to show off all the hats she's acquired from that infamous, "amazing" hat shop in Lowtown.

I'll move this discussion to this thread.

This is Rivain Qun, the wiki states "Many, especially in Kont-aar, have also converted to the Qun, as their religion and the Qun are not very contradictory." I am trying to find the source for this line though.

I think Kont-aar is a(n orthodox Qunari) Par Vollen settlement. So I would imagine it's the communitarianism that make Rivaini religion and the Qun compatible. Parts of Rivaini traditional religion would seem quite difficult to work with the Qun. Rivaini mage practices, for example. The official Qunari policy on "god(s)" is quite harsh as well, although maybe they'll retcon that in future games just to annoy me. I do remember hearing about other Qunari converts outside of Par Vollen's authority in Rivain. They are, to some extent, different from orthodox Qunari. They could take a less harsh line on some of this stuff.

TBH, while I like Isabela, but I must admit I can't give my full support to a nation of people who can so easily become Qunari.

Honestly the best thing that can happen to Rivain is it being burnt to the ground and rebuilt culturally.

o.o I like Nevarra nearly as well; i just don't care for the fact that they happen to hold an Orlesian city.

How can i dislike any place that can produce Cass?

Which if you consider the insperation, Medieval Spain, it makes sense. Moorish spain was incredibly diverse and a center of learning and the arts within the Mediterranean world.

Here is a question you think we might go to Rivain before or after Tevinter?

Keep in mind that Rivain's religion is Pantheism, they view the world as god, not sure how they worship in Rivain. The seers role can be replaced with the role of the Tamassarans for example. But I do agree that converts outside of Par Vollen itself might have different customs, maybe more slower education to get rid of their old faith.

o.o you think i'd say this as a game developer or as someone who writes storyboards?

Anyway if i was acting from that capacity i'd like exploit Rivain's local customs and Qunari presence and have it have severe and dynamic cultural and social impact present in the product.

Like Andrastians being a minority in some portions of the country, Local spewers of their local garbage being far more common place and the local qunari converts just strolling around like a bunch of self deluded jon snows.

Don't get me wrong friend i know how to do a plot based around differing social dynamics, i just am not speaking as a writer, i speak as a consumer.

Hum I doubt it was easily converted to the Qun. Rivain culture seem a lot like south European cultures, some countries are catholic but only on name, the majority of population does not really care that much. They accept things but without all the extreme views and they still have a lot of pagan tradition from centuries old.

That is why the Circle of Magi there had a more relax attitude in part, they accept change but mostly it is never the full way and a lot of the traditions stayed the same, it is just done without full military aggression against an invading force but more of a cultural stubbornness.

Rivain reminds me of Spain in the Middle Ages where the Islamic ( Qunaris in case) divide the edges.

The Qunari aren't Muslims; they're communists.
