Low user scores for DAO? Sure, here you go: http://www.metacriti...s?dist=negativeNow try and find a low user score for DA:O. That might help you guys with your denial trip, i.e. "people whined about DA:O too".

I hate to burst your bubble but Metacritic is only used by trolls. It's generally considered the sewer of the internet... BY the people on the internet.

you left out "for the people of the internet".

There are still people out there who credit Metacritic UserScores any kind of credibility??
Wow ![]()
I thought by now everyone knew that this side is flooded with Trolls,Spamers, etc.
Critic Reviews are usually Higher because most dont use the 0-5 Scale... Users do.. so if a Critic is pissed at a game he gives it a 5 or 6/10 ... if a User is pissed at a game he gives it a 0/10 those to ratings in comparison make NO Sense at all.
The reason why "older" games scores wherent as low isnt because they where "better"... but 2009 when DA:O came out the Internet wasnt as full with trolls as it is now^^.
But back to topic.. Bioware cant please everyone... Most Console Players(wich make up most of the Customers) would be pissed as hell if you would make a Carbon Coby DAO:2 DA:O on Console wasnt really all that great. And sorry to say that but Consoles rule the gaming World...(im a PC Gamer but thats just the hard cold truth^^)
Skyrim has started the huge Open World Trend in todays RPGs.. everyone wants a piece of Skyrims sucsess Cake... so if you make a new RPG it HAS to be at least Semi Open World.
Users' Critics on Metacritic isn't relevant to business people and has never been since the users' score is separated from the critics'. Metacritic's sister's site is Gamefaqs (same parent company to put it simple).
You would think that the subprimes' crisis of 2007-2008 would have taught people something about the disadvantages of having quasi-monopolies in a rating business, i.e. people that make a living rating products of an industry, in which they have an indirect (at best) economic interest.
A reminder: every piece of s... toxic financial products, that ended up turning the world economy to global recession was rated AAA until 2007 (best note possible). Yeah, just like AAA games.
Apparently not. Mummy stock market don't like too much volatility, no she don't.
As a result, you would pardon me if I find some (irony there, for some people just don't seem to get it) advantages in peers' ratings.

I meant the user score and not negative user reviews. But thanks anyway.

I don't doubt that. But the funny thing is, when the metacritic user score is good, then the game is always good. If the genre appeals to you at least.
So, a good user score means the game is good too.
Such a strange phenomena.

Thats a way too simplistic view
As i pointed out in an earlier Post... If for whatever reasons one game attracts alot of 0/10 Trolls wich cant be taken seriously(Sorry but 0/10 is NOT a Review its blind hate!) its score will be lower.. that doesnt mean the game is "bad" just that somehow, somewhere a group of Trolls emerged and started spamming hate about a Game wherever they can.
Basically if a Game has parts that can be polarizing or missunderstood it makes way for haters.
(e.g DA:I the Hinterlands.. bad choice for a starting region.. but basically most hater Reviewers play for 1-2h and say its ****.. so you only saw the relativly dull Hinterlands. well....)
Also theres always individual taste...
Bioshock1,Starcraft 2,Skyrim all have exellent User Scores, yet I didnt found them justified.. now what? did i just disprove your statement? no... its just that.. opinions... as are the User Reviews.
They are tied; the (low) user scores are in the red circles to the left of the review.I meant the user score and not negative user reviews. But thanks anyway.

Not only that there were petitions on the BSN saying that "BioWare should give the Dragon Age IP to Bethesda" when Dragon Age 2 was released. Right now BioWare is in its customary "someone will find fault with something" phase. I am pretty sure even if the game was almost identical to Origins for systems people will still come back with "its not enough like Origins".
Console gamers don't make up the majority of gamers. It's a complete myth. There are more users on Steam alone than both "next-gen" consoles combined. It doesn't matter which excuse you come up with, that's reality. Catering to a minority within a minority is a stupid business practice.
They apparently make the majority of the sales, thus making catering to them a sound business practice. It doesn't matter how many users is registered on Steam if they are unwilling to shell out the money.Console gamers don't make up the majority of gamers. It's a complete myth. Are we really blaming piracy again? Who said Steam users don't buy games? Source.

I've had a Steam account, Short of Origins, Deus Ex, and Skyrim - I haven't purchased a single game. I've had it for years too. So, use me as the source.

Why? and neglect that 70% of all Steam accounts have 1-5 Games in them?
Alot of Steam Accounts are made by Users for 1 Game, never to be used again afterwards.
It doesnt matter how many Steam Accounts there are..
lets Take Watch_Dogs as example another cross gen and PC game... only 15% of all Sales where PC
85% of the Sales where on console.. if thats not "rule" then what is?
You do realize that someone could have a Steam account and play games on console as well, don't you? The only things I play on PC are strategy type games that would never be on a console. Otherwise I play games on console. I have a Steam account, but have never bought a game on it. The only thing I ever bought through Steam was a little bit of dlc for one game.
No, I'm saying that the attention console games receive is a result of console games generating more profits than their PC counterparts. What reasons may be there for this difference is not my concern, and I'm not going to take guesses. I'd imagine the developers and publishers don't really care all that much about the exact nature of these reasons, either. They just follow the money they see on their balance sheets. Are we really blaming piracy again?

As a counterpoint, I play every game I can on PC, and only use a console for exclusives that do not get PC versions. If I had my choice, I wouldn't bother with a console at all.
Same, and I use mine for watching youtube and netflix.
Who cares how many Steam users there are? Even I have Steam and I haven't bought jack.
How do you not buy games that cost .19? I don't understand.
I find it interesting that some posters bemoan the fact that they cannot fiddle with the attribute system in DAI, but at the same time praise BG1 & BG2. The only time with rare exception you could fiddle with the attribute system in BG1 or BG2 was at character creation. The only exceptions were if the party came across an ioun stone. The way it was implemented in BG was that the stone allowed the gamer to increase one attribute depending on the color of the stone. The stone were rare in game. So basically the starting attributes stayed the same.
The way that BG allowed the gamer to increase a party members attributes was through weapons, armor and other accessories (rings (Ring of Strength +2), necklaces etc) and proficiencies. What DAI does is similar selecting certain skills and providing amulets of power (an ioun stone equivalent) to pick skills that can increase the attributes or upgrade a skill or pick a new one in the tree..
So when some posters say that Bioware has not gone back to their roots I must disagree.
As I have stated before DAI is far more like BG. I fail to understand how posters can say it is like an MMO when most if not all the concepts date back to a game created in 1998. Unless you want to consider the NWN MMORPG created in 1991 using the gold box engine.
