Lol you have no idea what you're talking about. Witcher 2's combat is way different from The Witcher and way more action oriented. The Witcher 3 is is taking the combat even further in the action direction and is going to be "open world" which seems like the mainstream thing to do now and not at all like the previous Witcher games.

How so? I've played both games and didn't find that it deviated all that much between games. In fact, I felt that 2 built on top of one rather than diminishing it.

Problem is you want to go back 7 years and bring back a game that is gone, it's not some ancient treasure waiting to be rediscovered it had it's time and it was good while it lasted but they've moved on now. You don't throw away steak because one of your guests would prefer to be eating seafood.

Origins would have never been made if Bioware "moved on" from Baldur's Gate. Bioware wouldn't even exist today if they tried making "action" games 10 years ago. The fact is, this developer hasn't put out a product worthy of their reputation in a very long time. No idea why people defend them.

Why not both? :D But I do hope they add more magic schools in the next game... this selection is pitiful all from the primal DA:O school... and some barriers... Depressing D:

and more spell slots ... what's the point of having more spells if you can't use them ?

edit: neah, actually that's not gonna happen since they make games for consoles first, pc later nowadays ... so ... eh, it is what it is .

It's almost as if people have opinions and actually like things you don't.

but that would be crazy talk.

It's like someone makes these arguments to disregard someone else.

But that would be crazy talk right.

I don't understand people who put so much energy into something they hate.

Generally because they care.

you're kidding right ?

how can you say that the combat didn't deviate much from one game to another when it was clearly radically changed. you don't even have to play the game, just watch gameplay footage and you can clearly see that it's been stripped down and rebuilt in the second game.

It was more sarcasm to say that I actually do like BioWare's recent stuff.

That goes both ways you know.

I'm not the one saying that it's fact that BioWare hasn't put out anything good and that I can't understand why people defend things =P

Can't see BioWare making an 'old school' RPG again.

Wouldn't be surprise me if the Qunari ramped up there gatlock production and start making Muskets to make the game even more mainstream.

By DA6 we'll have laser rifles if they think they'll get a few more sales out of that.

DRINK!  "baldurs gate"

This isn't that era. Bioware has moved on to what works for them in the here and now, you're asking them to return to a time when they were a small, little known company that had a smaller cult following. They aren't going to do that because that's not who they are anymore, it would be the end of Bioware, for all the hooting and hollering i'm hearing about DA:I being the end of the franchise I haven't seen a shred of evidence to back it up. They sold 1.4 million physical copies in the first week of Inquisition being released that's better than DA2 and puts it on track to outsell DA:O. With that in mind they are clearly doing something right aren't they?

Lawd. Games aren't the same thing as food, people.

Narratives progress, graphics engines progress, and sameness fatigue is certainly a factor.

I don't want to play the same game over and over, unless it's the same game.

Of course the combat was different but they didn't suddenly do away with the silver sword or get rid of sword oils or magic or the development trees.

Yeah as much time as I have put into ME 2 (like 17 playthroughs) I do not think an ME 2-2 would be especially appealing.  If it ain't broke why repeat it?

One thing I can agree with is that the 'origins' of DA:O were time well spent. It wouldn't work quite as well in DA:I as currently written, but maybe people from our Inquisitor's past could have visited Skyhold or something?

As for the mechanics...I don't really see the three games as that different honestly. The combat and inventory management in all three games is acceptable, not amazing or anything.

I would rather for the game to grow and evolve and not turn into Dynasty Warriors.

i sure hope this is the last dragon age game. not because i didn't like it or anything ... i actually loved it, despite it's problems ...

but you know ... 3 is enough. how much are you gonna milk a franchise before it becomes stale ? do you really want to be those old farts ? sitting at a bar in a club filled with young people, reminiscing about the old days ?

EA is good at milking. Just look at it's prized cow Madden.

Bioware was once stated in the past about originally being a 5 game plan, since Thedas has lots of stories to tell

let's not be nasty. it's not just ea. most big companies do that nowadays. they're scared to bring a new product ... there's a lot of money at stake and i kinda get why they'd rather stick to stuff that already has popularity/following/etc ...

i really do ...

but you know ... one can dream, can't he ?

And I would prefer this.  Mass Effect was a successful Trilogy.  One of the first in gaming.  I want a series that can try and emulate a five 'year' arc ala Babylon 5, Farscape, or what BSG tried to do.

You can do a game in the same vein as Origins without retreading everything about that game. You can evolve that game's mechanics without completely changing the formula. I enjoy Inquisition, but I can't help but want to see what they could have done if they stuck with what they were doing with Origins.
