For the sequel, they should take all the babies that got made in the early editions and grow them up into adventurers. Keiran, Oghren's Nugget, the kid looking for his sword at Redcliff in DA1, the Dwarf Noble's son if he knocked up the groupie in in DA1 prequel, and anybody else that got conceived in the previous games. If they didn't get made or got killed, then they don't show up like in ME3. But that would be the ultimate game where your previous decisions mattered, only much, much later.

Sure, if the sequel isn't too far into the future he'd be late 20's, early 30's, and already on his way to being a very successful adventurer in his own right according to canon.

Bevin (the kid in the closet) returning in some manner of importance is one of my 'pet plot points' that I really hope plays out in some way in the future. If he turned out to be a companion I would love it.
You could add Connor/Rowan to that list.
What about Feynriel from DA2, provided you didn't screw him over he's supposedly studying in Tevinter, hopefully he hasn't turned into some power crazy magistrar. Seriously the guy can literally kill people with the power of his mind from just about anywhere.

Feynriel might be out of the power scale for most parties. "Kill people in my sleep" while VERY impressive, doesn't translate well to adventuring parties.

The one I really want to see is Zerlinda's son. If the next game is set another ten years into the future, he'll be about the right age to have joined the Wardens

Oh and Amathyne, Iona's daughter from the prequel of the Human noble. There are tons of candidates, and few bad ones.

Was sort of thinking outside of the 'companion' role when I mentioned him, but if the setting moves north towards Tevinter I would be kind of expecting him to show up in some way.
While he isn't exactly young, Jowan returning is another thing I would like to see (provided you didn't kill him or send him back to the Tower where he might have been made tranquil), older and more competent and challenging the "blood magic = bad" stigma, have him sit down with Merrill and let them have a nice conversation about forbidden magic and things they screwed up big time.
I'm just a fan of the idea of seemingly small-bit time characters making a sudden comeback, small seemingly inconsequential choices coming back to haunt/reward you in ways you never saw coming.
I'm hoping BioWare has the guts to create 'conditional' companions in the future who only show up based on fulfilling certain conditions, problem is there are people who I suspect will whine and ****** about having companions unavailable because of past game choices. Personally if my psychotic stab-happy Warden, unhelpful selfish Hawke, and "Death!" Judgement loving Inquisitor combined together end up screwing over my DA4 protag (i.e. half the potential companions meet untimely ends already) I would applaud Bioware for it.
