MMO - Guilds War 2

RPG - Heavily modded BG 2

Open World - TES Morrowind (>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Skyrim)

FPS - Serious Sam 2 (I make no apologies for this) // Halo

RTS - Starcraft, all of it.

Sports - Winning Eleven

Notable mention - DAI, for somehow mixing three of my fave genres (MMO, RPG & Open World) and almost pulling it off flawlessly.

Fallout New Vegas

Mass Effect (the entire series, there are certain elements that I love in all three games)

Star Control II (one of spiritual predecessors for Mass Effect)

Cobra Mission (an old hentai JRPG with a cliched plot which I like playing and replaying nevertheless)

Sensible World of Soccer (yes, I'm a bit of old-timer, right :D)

I'd only give a 10 to a game with zero game breaking bugs or flaws that othewise mar the game's quality.  I mean, this is an absolutely perfect score, so it can't be given to even spectacular games if they suffer from bugs (sorry Bethesda)... so my list is pretty short (edit: or it would have been had I not kept coming back to add things...)...

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Street Fighter Alpha 3

Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Deus Ex

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4

Tactics Ogre

Tekken 3

Halo

Halo 2

Since I just made a big deal about glitches, I'll just say that I never saw any in those games...

10/10 is hard to come by b/c that's literally perfection. I'm an English teacher and rarely give 100s because that means the person wrote a perfect essay, above and beyond the call of duty. That hardly ever happens. So in games...

...I could only give that to Portal. Which isn't to say that's the only game I've truly loved. But that game was perfect. I don't know how it could have been improved. Nothing additional needed.

You... I really disliked teachers like you. LOL

In principle, you are absolutely right. However in practice, only the tiniest majority of teachers grade this way, so it results in (slightly) unbalanced equivalences. If you'd give most good papers an A, the impact is minimal. But if you truly believe half the class should get a C based on the bell curve... that's a problem (but it sounds like you don't do that, so I'll stop my rant here).

Some other favorites I neglected to list.
  • Conker's Bad Fur Day. It stood out as the direct opposite of the Cheery Anthromorph Platformers Rare had become known for. It's a flawed but very entertaining game. It also had a surprisingly robust multiplayer.
  • Sonic CD. A very bonkers sonic game involving Time Travel mid-game, a technofunk soundtrack, and very open level design.
  • Jet Grind Radiooooooo.
  • Planescape: Torment. Originality in Storyline & Characters, extremely descriptive writing, it has virtually no competition.

-Championship Manager/Football Manager Series. Out of self protection, I have not upgraded since FM2012. FM2015 is looking so tasty though... first version I played was Championship Manager Italia, which was the 1993-1994 season, I think...
-Civilization III, IV & V
-Baldur's Gate 'Trilogy'
-Mass Effect Trilogy
-Megaman 2

-Crono Trigger
-Dragon Age: Inquisition. Excluding the Civ en CM/FM games, it's been well over a decade since I've played a game that so easily made me lose track of time.

-NBA2K15. Best RPG ever.

-Super Mario World

-Super Mario 64

-Super Metroid

-Metroid Prime (I think)

-Little Big Planet.

And I'm probably forgetting a tonne. I've been playing games for 25 years.

Pff.

10/10 would literally mean a perfect game, and given how lengthy games tend to be, most of them are going to have something that's annoying or doesn't quite work somewhere along the line.

Fallout 3 might be my personal favorite game, just because it was the first one that really drew me into its world and kept me captivated after I started trying some of the more complex PC games about four years ago. But I'm certainly not going to claim that it doesn't have problems - the over-the-top exploding heads, bad companion AI, and NPCs who just repeat the same few sentences over and over again, for starters. Mass Effect has clunky combat and a "Race Against Time" that isn't a race against time. Dragon Age: Origins has combat sequences that drag on and on when what I wanted to was to get on with the story. Almost any game with dialogue choices has a few scenes where there isn't an option to express what I'd like to have my character express.

There are no 10/10 games for me. Perfection is not something you ever reach, it's something you constantly strive for.

When it comes to my favourite games, then my list would be quite long... but many of them are clearly not perfect.
