I keep reading the T3 schematic Seer Staff is the best end game mage staff, outside of the one from Iron Bull's quest line, but I don't get it. My Staff of the Void has:

133 DPS, +66 electricity damage, +16 spirit damage (master spirit rune), +6 attack, +6 critical chance, +36 magic, and 10% chance for two seconds of walking fortress.

The best I can get out of the Seer Staff schematic is:

115 DPS, +47 fire damage, +22 critical chance using all great bear hide, +11 attack, and +guard in the masterwork slot which I already get from my armor.

Is an additional 16 critical chance and 5 attack really worth it for a loss of 36 magic and 18 DPS or am I missing something here?

Where did you get that staff might I ask?

All I get from a google search is: You need to head towards Hinerval in Emprise du lion.. yeah.. like that is helpful..

Masterwork Archon staff I believe is the best staff in the game. Let me check though.

No.. wait.. seer is, I ignore utility slots, for a rift mage, crit or nothing...

Give me a little while to see what I can create, what is your preference? Crit? Fire? Ice? Lightning? attack? Penetration?

It dropped from a dragon, but I can't remember which one. I've done all but Highland Ravager in EDL, so it must have been one of the other two in the pools. Obviously, crit is important, but I can't see dropping +36 magic for it.

I'm a KE, so I suppose in the end it doesn't really matter, but I'd still like to have BiS equipped.  ^_^

Here you go. Couple I just made using everite. Would be even stronger if I used dragonbone as the base metal (75 ish Fire Damage). When you are critting every 1 in 3 hits and have flashpoint, you do not need the extra 36 magic.

Spoiler

Thanks, but now I'm really confused. Is the Precise Deadly Scepter you've pictured from the T3 Seer schematic? The one I have doesn't have any grip/blade upgrade slots.

There are 3 different T3 staff schematics with 22 metal parts for weapon damage. The Masterwork Archon Staff from Bull's mission chain has the most defensive stats. The First Enchanters Staff has lots of offense and you can buy the schematic from Empress de Lion trader. Both staffs has upgrade slots.

I do not know the stats of the Seer Staff schematic but I think the First Enchanters Staff has perfect offense stats and is the way to go except Seer Staff schematics comes with more than 22 metal parts.

Where is the best place to farm for Seer Staff? Also where can I get the best possible grip and blade for the staff?

Where did you find the upgrades precise brutal crest and deadly superb grip? Are these schematics or random drops?

I farmed Cradle of Sulevin for the Seer schematic.

Never heard of the Seer Staff. I may have and just didn't pay attention.

The staff of the void is dropped from Kaltenzahn in Emprise du Lion. I gave the staff to Dorian

After I captured Suledin Keep, I bought the First Enchanter staff schematic.

I used that schematic to craft a staff for my knight enchanter

Deadly Precise Scepter(crafted grip and blade)

193 dps

69 fire damage

+50 damage vs demons

+11% critical chance

+51% critical damage bonus

+11 dexterity

+18% guard damage bonus

+3 magic

+3 will power

on hit: gain 3 guard

crushing deadly superb grip

+9% critical damage bonus

+18% guard damage bonus

deadly resolute crest

+21% critical damage bonus

+3 magic

+3 willpower

rune

+50 damage vs demons

After I crafted the staff, I went and fought the Highland Ravager(the sleeping dragon) solo on nightmare. I killed it along with 19 dragonlings while only using one potion.

So overall, I like the staff I crafted

I did not get the schematic for the Archon staff until later in the game

Archmage Staff I think might be better than the First Enchanter Staff

I think each person has a different idea of 'best' for their staff, depending on how you play and which stats you prioritise. (Personally I go with seer staff)

Regardless, you can craft something better than Staff of the Void, whilst still using the same stats/bonuses.

3X5Zjhe.png

3 more electricity damage, 8% more attack, 5% more crit chance, 1 extra magic and 11 extra constitution. Plus walking fortress for 3 seconds extra. (I've used up all my spirit runes at this point, but give it a superb spirit rune and it's better in that regard too.)

So yeah, staff of the void is great, but can be improved upon, and of course the awesome thing about the crafting system is you can customise it to boost the stats you want, so if you want more magic and less crit, just use different shcematics and parts.

for a Knight Enchanter its all about weapon damage.

i wonder if stats people can tell us if bonuses like attack stack on top of the raw damage, in regards to spirit blade?

Thin grip and archmage blade. I think are their schematic names. The grip looks like kind of like studded metal and the blade is a dragon head.

I just found them in RNG chests. The Precise brutal and deadly superb are names given to the crafted item due to the materials I used.

Farm Sulevin and you should get everything you need.

My advice, get to Emprise du lion as soon as you can, run around until you get to the spot where the codex is regardless of how under levelled you are, then go to sulevin each time you leave a map.

Shard quest example
Skyhold > sulevin > forbidden wastes for door unlock > sulevin > next objective > sulevin > next objective.

Coming back between maps eliminates a lot of the feeling of sitting there going in and out of the map to check the chests.. the grind gets old fast.
