Don't know for sure. We won't know until digital sales come in and no sites that are talking about exact sales figures are reporting that currently. It's been less than a month since the game came out, and I'm pretty sure this is going to be a holiday gift for a lot of people. So I wouldn't make any solid judgments about that yet.
I'm done with Dragon Age

This game needs documentation. It's a wonderfully complex game that is made often incomprehensible by the lack of documentation.
The need to hold anything down runs directly contrary to the previous games, and isn't mentioned anywhere (and should never be necessary anyway).

Respawning enemies is a problem? So....one you killed a group of thugs in an area (open world) that area should forever be desolate? Clearly, Open World RPG is not for you.
Bye then.
This is one thing that made me go, huh??
Why in the heck do baddies respawn??
I mean you go to the hinterlands and your constantly being told about "making it safe" by doing these quests and killing off bad guys, but whats so safe about killing them off only to have the return 5 mins later with a respawn? lol

There's a respawn rate in this game, but it's slower than we think. If the maps were completely empty, it would feel like the world is about to collapse. The programming team probably wanted to make sure that there would be at least something to kill for the crafting parts of the game and some sidequests.

I dont think it had to be empty, but whats the point of "making it safe" if everything you do is pointless because the enemies are back 5-10-20 whatever mins later. Why couldn't the people have started moving back to the areas you cleaned out over time and start rebuilding? Or something.
I mean people have said to me not to try and clear an area out before moving on, so you clear an area, the enemies are dead, your soldiers start to take up guard positions and things like that, people start moving back into these remained areas, etc. While the areas you havent touched are still filled with enemies and rifts and what have you.
Something like that sounds more productive and meaningful then having enemies you killed 10 times respawn in order to give you more to do while your picking roots and what not...lol

I agree. For all the cheese and wine getting tossed around on this subject, can you imagine the alternative?
Sorry for great bears going extinct btw. My bad...

The respawning enemies on that map - namely the main offenders; templars/mages actually stop respawning once certain objectives are met (kill off their leaders)
However, I do still believe respawning needs to be fixed because you can kill off one group, turn around, then look back and WTH? I just killed you! But this could be more of a bug than anything.

A well crafted, well paced storyline with enough background so that it made you actually care about your characters and why they were made part of the main story. Freedom to build your character anyway you wished, fully customizable skill trees, specializations with an actual story behind their origin( why and how you became Arcane Warrior, Champion, Reaver, etc was actually explained), choices made had real world impact in the game, tactical combat that allowed you to plan your battles and prepare your party accordingly, SPELLS that actually worked like magic( not the flashy colored energy bolts that look like were shot from Star Wars laserguns)...
These are a few of the things that made DAO outstanding in my view. Could you say the same things about DAI?
*scratches head*
Any way you wished in DAO? No, not really, only 'any way you wish' in the constraints that the developers allowed you to create your character, same as DAI, they just tightened up the 'constraints' (which is good and bad)
Fully Customizable skill trees? Are we talking the same game? You had to pick 1, 2, 3 to get tos skill #4 (personally I think DAI gives more freedom....although less choices)
(this one I laughed at) A *story* about how we got our skill? *snorts* All I had to do was farm approval, talk to a companion and *poof* I could spec as a templar/reaver/spirit healer assassin bard etc (depnding on class)....I could purchase ranger tome from Bodahn.....DAI, you actually have to talk to trainers, and do something to earn it.
Choices you made only had an impact on ending slides (and what companions said to you)....nothing really 'in world' except for what armies you could call on in the final battle. there is much more 'in world' changes in DAI, but then you have to have more than one play through to see the changes.
The last two I have to agree with, while I like the faster/flashier combat of DAI, I do miss the more robust AI tactics for your squad from DAO and a not constained skill pick-list (don't understand why my rogue all of a sudden might have forgotten how to backstab or something)
I liked DAO, I like DAI, I am also someone who happens to expect things to change (although BW does have a habit of removing things that worked in one game)....major annoyance in DAI, no storage chest...(but hey! there was NO storage chest in DAO either unless you modded it in.....or bought in DLC...so complaints about not having a storage chest like in DAO.....)

Why are some folks accusing the OP of being entitled? Just because his/her opinion doesn't match yours?
This is for feedback right?
I ask myself that everytime I pop into these forums. It's kinda sad, really. And it always goes down like this.
OP isn't happy with the game.
Those that are happy dismiss his claims and call him entitled.
OP gets mad and continues to complain.
Others start to mess with the OP.
OP starts calling people names.
They call him names.
1 against and army by the way.
Mod comes in and locks the thread, but we all know that the OP didn't win the argument. Because reasons.

Warcraft were RTS games, or did you mean World of Warcraft? still nothing like DA:I. Also, 6 days to learn guard? no wonder you're ranting on the internet, I should type slowly so you can understand. There are two (2) ways to use skills, tap, or hold. You just raged and started tapping the button trying to guard...for...six (6)...days, I just imagined a monkey trying to fit a banana peg into a square hole, you're funny, you're a funny guy, thank you, and Merry Christmas.
I meant world of warcraft. If a manual doesnt tell you HOW to do something only that you can there is a serious error here. Nowhere in the manual or tutorials does it say you have to hold down the button. I prefer to learn by reading a TUTORIAL rather than smashing all the buttons and hoping for a x4 combo. So i guess since we both figured it out by button mashing we both belong in the zoo dont we? Hows that peg shaped banana working out for you?

Isn't the point though that we are ALL entitled? We're spending our money on the game and we are constantly reassured by the designers that its going to be great. yet we are constantly having things taken away from us options, words, information stats the list is endless. They basically took everything that makes an RPG and threw it out the window. 16 hours for a damn side mission? seriously? Tell me how this isnt an MMO.

Plot and character design are awful. I'm glad I realized it long before 100 hours. I uninstalled the game after 25 hours of boredom to prevent giving the game any more chances that it "may get better". If your right hand makes you sin, cut it off.

Valid criticism? Like not wanting there to be gay people in a video game because you don't agree with that lifestyle?
Nice job projecting on to the guy but he never said he didn't want gay people in games. I realize this may come as a shock to you but people are allowed to take umbrage with Bioware's writing of minorities. It doesn't make them racist or sexist or homophobic it simply means they didn't care for the way the character was written.

My problem with the writing was that it left me in no doubt as to the characters sexuality whether I wanted to know or not. For example I'm straight Now being straight I do not find men sexually attractive. If a man found me attractive im sure he would find a way of letting me now. however he probably wouldnt stand next to me and go " "fwwooaar look at the arse on that guy" Nor would he be singing YMCA from the rooftops. The only way I should know thaty a character is attracted to a person of the same sex is if i click on the romance icon. I dont need Sera constantly telling me how good cassandras bum looks. Or what she'd do to her. I accepted Dorian into my party despite knowing his sexuality. The point about Krem was that I assumed it was a he. I was completely ignorant of anything untoward going on until the game painfully pointed it out. Why? Why not just leave people to be ignorant? He's not an important NPC I could care less. He may as well have a line in game that says "I'm here for the sake of inclusion". Stuff like this belongs in the bio it wouldnt come up in conversation.

Oh no, it DOES look like it plays as an MMO. I'm just pointing out how the feedback always goes down when it comes to the game. It really Is breaking the community, and I find it sad.
Am I even making sense?

I want leveled loot containers all over the place (so I do not open containers and find lvl 1 - 2 things when I'm at lvl 11) and storage containers / backpack. I know there is a perk for that, but I don't want to waste perks for that - I do have better things to choose. Some enemies drop only certain things - things you may need later, but you cannot have them in the inventory - take space. Respawned enemies - they need to be there since you may go for collection quests and you also want to increase XP.
You should be able to get more xp even you are 2 levels above enemies, just because I want to reach high levels and yet have alot of landmass yet unexplored :-)
Cheers,

Why does someones sexuality bother you? Does the birth canal bother you as well? You're playing a game that has a history of brothels, blood magic, violence and different sexual orientations in the past, why act surprised? Where is the line that must be drawn and why should it be drawn according to your beliefs?
Should the game ask you at the beginning if you're straight as to NOT offend you by removing all those intrusive LGBT topics? Someones sexual orientation then is offensive on a personal level but a game talking about someone who murdered people... that is unobjectionable?
I despise agendas as much as the next person and I have felt at times that Bioware beats the LGBT drum frequently but your argument, if you can call it that, is mostly out of hatred and ignorance than with a critical perspective.

What Harvest_King said, "MERRY CHRISTMAS"
I mean come on, there is always going to be those who throw the biggest temper tantrums over not getting what THEY want. I can almost guarantee that you play 1 map of counter strike, 1 map of BF4 and 2 maps of COD and say your an RPG master. You can say this isn't an RPG all you want and yet it won GOTY............ I guess the people who get paid to Rate games and give the awards Just have poor choices.(sarcasm)
MERRY MUTHA FREAKING CHRISTMAS BOYS AND GALS.
Thanks again for the whine and cookies.
GOTY? really? Yeah because its not like they hand those out to every game that arrives. GOTY doesnt mean **** anymore.
