I never said that

No of course you didn't. You had a mature and intelligent rebuttal to his argument.

"apologize for it"? are you kidding me?
there is no need for excuses this game is awesome just because you think that its sucks doesn't mean its bad

but sry of course your shitty opinion is fact

or whatever.

People, people, calm down... please.

Don't touch the political correctness-side being badly done - to put it simply- ( it's a very sensitive subject, and rightly so, for a lot of people) and they're going to hate you for it, especially people from North America. Human nature.

I dislike 'sanitization' (look it up of you're interested) in games because I'm afraid of every franchise becoming the same. That's my opinion.

And please DAI fans, stop jumping on everybody that dislike or even hate the game, or EAware marketing practices. Objectivity doesn't exist really when you're speaking of taste. Flame wars are not constructive.  And I strongly suspect it's being done somewhat intentionally by the publisher.  See Pen-and-paper posts who make a very convincing argument, as a retired PR professional. Again, that's my opinion.

Please, it's a game.

Doesn't anybody, anybody, still think that, first and foremost, a game must be fun? Discussions about a game must be pleasant?  Is your life so easy that you don't want, sometimes, to forget it by immersing yourself in games?

Do ****** real world problems don't bother geeks/nerds anymore ? Or whatever effing names we are supposed to fit into for marketers and social-studies-college-teachers wannabes. Is escapism dead and gone in this game industry?

Greed, half-assed social activists and useless flame wars are killing the spirit of this industry/art.

I absolutely do not understand this complaint at all.  How is it "not an RPG"?

We have a larger range of race choices and face customization than even in Origins, the story is completely epic, there is an assload to explore and find, there is deep crafting for TONS of equipment customization, the ability trees (and abilities) are better than Origins, the characters and the PCs relationships to them are well fleshed-out and develop more naturally over time, and they did a fantastic job of making sure that most of the huge number of quests feel related to driving forward the main point of building the Inquisition.

The only explanation I can come up with -- and something I have seen spelled out blatantly on a few occasions -- is that people fixate on the tiniest, most specific little features (or the most broadly unreasonable ones) that seem to make or break their entire experience.

Tac Cam doesn't zoom out far enough?  Not an RPG.

Can't sit in chairs?  Not an RPG.

Can't be a dual-longsword-wielding Warrior?  Not an RPG.

Not exactly like Origins in every way but name?  Instant failing grade.

Almost every single thread or complaint post I have ever seen about this game boils down to something like this, and it always makes the complainers feel very petty and unreasonable, no matter how long-winded and precisely-explained their griping is.  The OP of this thread is an exemplar of that.

Is the game perfect?  No, I'd like to see a Black Emporium-style mirror and saveable custom face presets, and more hotbar buttons, plus the "disappearing people" bug is annoying (I assume that will be fixed at some point).  But do those things make the game "awful" and overshadow all the other amazing things about it?  NO!!  And I wish people would learn to grow and accept new things instead of demanding the same exact game over and over.  Some people seem to think that Baldur's Gate was the only RPG ever made and everything else since then has failed to even be in the same genre.  I loved that game, but FFS, MOVE ON.

I, personally, would like to thank BioWare for their great work on this amazing game, and I hope you understand that for every loudmouth complainer that starts a thread like this, there are a thousand of us that are too busy immersing ourselves in this hugely epic and wonderful game to bother coming to drown them out.

Inquisition is a RPG like a Ferrari with four flat tires is a supercar!

Bioware gutted every complex system that ever was implemented in Origins or DA2 for that matter. Inquisition is so extremely dumbed down ...

All I can see now is a beautiful landscape and the very well made character interactions.

But what about the gameplay? What about combat, tactics, strategy ... complex systems and depth and so on ... ?!!!

Inquisition is nothing more than a shadow of what it could have been ...

It is one of the most gruesome examples of dumbing down a franchise I have ever encountered.

And I don't think Bioware will remedy this with patches or DLC's any time soon! What we see here is the future of the franchise - sadly.

I'm heartbroken to write this after fully enjoying the first two games I am halfway through this one after nearly 100 hours poured into it and I just cannot take anymore. I was so excited to finally get my hands on the game. but the reality is never the same as the dream is it?

The problem is it doesnt feel like a dragon age game. It feels like warcraft with flashy colours. A single player MMO. Respawning enemies which I hate. Stupid overpowered enemies and area gating. The lack of  information in the manual besides the basics.

It took me about 6 days to work out how to use guard because you didnt explain it properly in the tutorial... HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN FOR GUARD would be the appropriate phrase you are looking for Bioware.

Again with the characters. Dorian was about two steps away from singing show tunes and asking where Emerald city was. We get it Dorian you're gay.  Why would anyone outside a romance option feel the need to tell anyone?

The conversation with Krem is another example I felt perfectly fine being completley ignorant until you felt the need to point out that all was not right. Are the trans gender community appeased now? have they stopped writing you threatening letters because you have made it blatantly obvious there is a transgender in there? Oh good I can get on with my life now.

And what in gods name have you guys got against storage? If you are going to have that many items in a game do you not think a chest might be handy? Again, it would be nice to have the choice.

Why include romance options for people who are not attracted to you? You know theyre going to say no so why bother?

The stupid ****** pop culture references....

The bugs... so many bugs.

So what did Bioware get right? Atmosphere. I genuinely felt a little bit afraid when I was in the mansion and the fade etc. the scenery was amazing the music was top notch. Good use of the frostbite engine although it did make everyone look a bit sweaty.

So yeah I'm done with dragon age until it stops becoming an MMO. I have no problem with open world but baldurs gate had the same thing and they didnt need  to stick respawning enemies in there. Even a take over territory system would have been preferable to that.

On to Mass Effect 4 I guess.

please bioware done listen to this nonsense. Please make all your rpgs like this one i love the open world, respawn enemies keep me coming back, and keep enemies levels in the different zone it puts emphasis that you need to gain more power(not the currency used in the game i mean in the sense more experiance) to get there. I really hope a future star wars rpg can have this much exploration and depth this is a great game.

I do agree with the OP in that the MMO respawning and enemy gating does get a little tiring especially when you wanna go back to previously explored map and finish little bits and pieces.  Doesn't look like that trend is kicking the bucket anytime soon. :`(

You know, if you don't like some of the dialogue options, you're not required to choose them all just because they're there. If you don't like grilling Krem on that, you can move right past it.

Sadly I uninstalled the game today. I put about 90 hours in. I tried to do a second play through. I just can't do it. There's too much filler to wade through.

I think I'll start a new Mass Effect run. That seems to be the next screw up Bioware has planned.

Well said, there could be some quick fixes that would help a lot, like turn off re-spawns, add new hotbar for skills with more than 8 buttons, add walk turn on/off. All that could be done in few days I bet. How ever they are too busy making new multi player content to sell for more money I think.

I think most of the stuff people really care about could be fixed or at least made better in a very quick manner!

So much could be done for us RPG fans here. But I will not allow myself to get any of my hopes up. Not ever! I don't trust Bioware anymore ...

Most of the fixes would be a piece of cake. But they just want us to shut up and eat up everything without questioning it because they are after the casual gamers! What EA wants - EA gets! And Bioware is cool with it ...

I have to say that while I love the game, I do feel that some of the characterization of the party members has been a little overstated.  I'm bi, and I agree with those who feel that some of the dialogue is overwritten--perhaps that's not even the best way to put it.  It doesn't feel organic.  Whether I'm dating a man or a woman, I simply don't talk the way Bioware's characters have begun to talk.  They're starting to sound more like caricatures than real people, but that's okay, they're entering new territory, I guess.

Someone above mentioned that not every interaction is sexual, and I think that's a fair comment as well.  No, you don't have to do the romances, but let's face it--romances are a big reason why I play Bioware games!  I'd just hope that they too felt as though they were evolving in a more organic fashion.  For me, the most glaring and most awkward conversation was, yes, sadly, with Krem.  I'll give a pass though, because again, this is really the only company even addressing these issues and bringing us these characters.

Hoping for better in the future!

I got to the conversation with Krem last night and chose not to ask any awkward questions. I can see and hear that Krem is transgender and none of the questions allowed me to inquire for more details tactfully, so I skipped them. Even the follow up question to Iron Bull afterwards is stupid "Are you okay with him being a she?" ... seriously, BioWare?

As much as I enjoy having options no matter what sexuality and gender my Inquisitor may have, do we really need such a blatant, obvious representation of it?

Agreed.  That made me cringe.  Once Krem's status as trans is out in the open and all is said and done, I'm still asking rude, idiotic questions?

It makes sense though...you have the option to bring up KRems sexuality, which would be odd regardless of how you did it, or just move on and leave it be, in which case nothing awkward happens. Sounds like real life to me.

Okay, this made me laugh a bit to hard. You hated the pop culture references? Did you even play Origins? The game had its fair share of pop culture as well. Superman reference anyone? I really wanted to stay out of this conversation, but this was way to good!.....

you know about krem and the fact he is transgender only if you care about to see all the information, and dorian, really?? you think he says that he is gay all the time?? when?? the only time he say that is during HIS personal quest and obviously you don't whine about morrigan or vivienne that have their boobs out all the time -.- (thing that i really appreciate BTW), and six?? six days to learn how to use a skill?? and there are only 3 way to use a skill: AOE (everyone know how to use it), tap one time or keep pressed the button is not hard, not hard at all.

however they included romance option to character that don't want to stay with you only because 1 in reality you can ask anyone out or to be your girlfriend/boyfriend and they can say no and 2 maybe someone want to roleplay as a flirty inquisitior (thig that i do all the time, i love to flirt with harding XD)

so if you wanna go i doubt someone will miss you, bye -.-

After swimming across the river of tears and drying myself off on the other side all I have to say is...   It's so wonderful being able to enjoy this game.

The agony some of these folks must feel is astounding.  Poor miserable souls...  it's like they never woke up from the fade.  They never graduated from the college of magi.  Instead they're trapped and have become screaming banshees, forever lost.

"Why would anyone outside a romance option feel the need to tell anyone?"

Because that isn't how it works in real life. In real life you are surrounded by people, whether that be your family, friends, co-workers etc. When someone is gay, you don't just get to pretend they don't exist - especially if they are currently going through a sexuality related issue like Dorian is. It's frustrating for gay people when they FINALLY are represented in a good way in a game and then people accuse the developers of shoving it down their throats.

And about Krem - Bioware intentionally made it obvious. Once again, these people EXIST in real life. You don't just get to shut them out because they are gay or because they are trans.
