Ok so I want to compile an actual list of things that need to be done to the game that should have been done before launch.

This does not include bugs or glitches. Those are normal for all games nowadays to have.

Im talking actual game changes, not wish lists for dlc or expansions.

Things that you believe should have been in the game to start with.

I will update the list when certain items has been decided as a pretty much of a consensus.

I also have a straw pole where you can choose what you think is DAI's worst problems here :

(remember you can choose multiple issues on this poll)

http://strawpoll.me/3179211

And heres my poll on the question of Healing Magic:

http://strawpoll.me/3173971

And heres a poll on possible DLC:

(Multiple choice poll)

http://strawpoll.me/3183351

And one more poll on mage diversity...

http://strawpoll.me/3187562

Thank you for posting and lets give Bioware a concerted list so things get done.

Ill start this off...

List

-------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Ability to customize stats. Ie Strength, Constitution etc
  • The ability to fully upgrade Skyhold and have it mean something/have a purpose.
  • More armor and weapons options
  • Healing Magic
  • More skills and abilities (mage especially)
  • A walk function
  • A storage chest
  • Make all cutscenes skip-able
  • Better item descriptions or a research item inventory section
  • Re-balance Knight Enchanter
  • Crafting Schematic preview
  • Color wheel for hair with a highlights section
  • More hairstyles
  • Character Preset saves or codes that we can share
  • Better fast travel
  • Expanding of the tactics system for your AI companions. (like that seen in previous games)
  • Fix the tactical camera view/functionality
  • Add the ability to change lighting conditions in character creator(and possibly other views not just left or right but up or down)
  • Mirror of Transformation back (or other way to change your appearance mid game)
  • Better or more casual outfits for Skyhold (one given is pretty bad)
  • More accurate map system (sometimes objectives are not where they appear on the map)
  • Ability to name your horse
  • Add a "Quit to Desktop" option. No reason to reload the main menu when all we want to do is close the game.
  • Ability to pause during cut scenes
  • Click to move option for pc
  • Text size option
  • Show level range of zones on war table map
  • A "hold" command that actually keeps companions from moving.

Possible other extras

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Ability to compare/equip from loot screen
  • ability to compare/equip from merchant "sell" screen
  • A living world (Npc's and companions that don't just sit there and wait for you)
  • A trophy room in skyhold

And remember, please vote in the polls. Its alot easier to show Bioware the polls then to have them read a thread and count who likes what.

Thank you.

The more i think about it the more i dislike the idea of being able to check the approval rating of your companions. For one, knowing how much your potential love interest likes you makes it more like the DAO where it was just get to this number/level and i will sleep with you. "Morrigan I have something for you" DING sex level achieved! Achievement unlocked! lol And two its not very realistic and engaging to just walk up and say to somebody, 'Hey, if you had to give a rating to how much you like me right now , what would it be??" lol

Btw...im surprised that on the poll of DAI issues, most people are saying controls are the major issue. Personally I havent had any issues with the controls, at least not on pc, since that first patch.

Now, this is an excellent and potentially productive thread! Stuff I would like to see changed:

1. For me, the only serious problem with DAI was the lack of fully-customisable tactics. The system in DA2 was pretty much perfect, and DAI gutted it completely :( . Currently I have a choice between micromanaging four characters or watching the AI flail around and get everyone killed. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I used to enjoy the time I spent fiddling with those if>then routines.

2. I think the biggest problems with the PC controls are the Tactical Camera constantly re-centering (which is meant to be getting patched?) and the fuzzy targeting. I can't count the number of times my rogue stabbed thin air when I would have sworn she was right behind an enemy.

3. The lighting in the character creator is terrible ... again. This been the case three games in a row, four if you count Awakening. I know the developers heard all the fan complaints about this, and yet here we we are. Not to mention that the Mass Effect series has exactly the same problem! Is it too much to ask to see some actual daylight while we design our faces?

4. Speaking of which, I want the Mirror of Transformation back. That way, when it turns out that my character put on her lipstick wrong in the dim, green light of the Fade I'll be able to fix it later.

5. Another thing we had in the previous game that's conspicuously missing from this one: STORAGE CHEST. I ended up selling heaps of unique things that I wish I'd been able to keep just for inventory space.

6. In Inquisitor's 'casual' outfit around Skyhold is just terrible. I do not want to judge my enemies or romance my sweetie in beige pyjamas. (I hear this is also being patched, though?)

7. Exploration was awkward sometimes because the map doesn't show elevations. Sometimes I couldn't find a landmark or shard I seemed to be right on top of because it was above my head or under my feet, and then I'd have to walk around a mountain for ages trying to find a way up or down. Some kind of fix four that would be appreciated.

8. The inability to name our save files is irritating. I want to go back and grab videos of some stuff, but I don't know what most of my save points even are.

9. A separate inventory section for research items would be greatly appreciated. I missed out on  most of the benefits of research because I didn't realise I had to go and turn that stuff in before hitting Sell All on the valuables screen until very late in the game.

10. Given the absence of a Mabari, I would have liked to be able to name our mounts. (I mean, he was Ser Nuggington, Arl of Nugsleigh in my heart, but it would be nice to be able to make that official.)

... aaaaaaaand I think that's everything I didn't like that could conceivably be fixed with patching. (There are a handful of story elements I thought could have been handled better, but I don't think 'a meaningful discussion with King Alistair instead of a tacked-on cameo worse than his appearance in DA2' is the kind of thing likely to be inserted after the fact.)

For the record, I was fine with the way they handled healing.

This topic (and polls) is a really great idea ! I guess it all has been said, but to me what the game lacks the most is :

Healing magic,

Fast travel to wherever you want (since this is an open world game, right? These checkpoints are weird,

Weapons and armor, sometimes they look the same. I intended to play sword and shield style and well. .. i usually ended up with an axe because they're usually more powerful. I always find a lot of knives in the game but powerful one-handed weapons are a bit rare, particularly long swords,

Romances.... well, I don't care that much but since they were said to be more mature, wide etc - I think it should have been done better. DAO romance with Morrigan was so great, I still hope we will get something similar to that in one of DA games,

Interesting exploration and side quests - almost no side quests have dragged me into them, it's always been like doing chores. Main plot line is good, companion quests too, but side quests are just fillers. .. i remember how much I was grasping for new quests in BG games, even if I had to explore the whole area ( anybody remembers golden pantaloons ? :D). Here it's totally different, unfortunately.

Good ones, healing is up there and ill put better fast travel. Romances and side quests will probably be dlc content though.

The option to equip an item while in the 'Sell' section of the merchant UI.

> Go to sell section

> Compare what you might sell against what you currently have equipped

> If it's better, equip it and sell what you swapped out

It's only a small thing but would save time.

This is decent, but i was also thinking of an ability to equip something straight from the loot screen. You pick it up and see it and are able to compare and equip it right there. That would be nice. But this one im not sure how others will feel. Ill make a maybe section and put this there....

- Tactical cam that works with M+KB, has edge-of-screen scrolling, has higher elevation, has object fade and isn't blocked by game assets when trying to move it.

- (Highest Priority/simplest fix) Change the games first save point to immediately after your character creation rather than after several cut scenes in to the game. That way your character isn't lost if/when the game crashes.

- Tier 3 Item and Schematic vendors. Currently there's only the dog vendor and it is limited in what it sells.

- Greater difference in the recommended levels for areas. Crestwood and Western Approach (and associated areas) are the same levels, Hissing Wastes, Emprise Du Lion and The Emerald Graves are all the same levels. Leaves the end game empty or forces you to rush through the story faster.

I said this in another thread, but I'm going to say it again because I think it's important:

Leaving out healing magic was a brilliant move. Protecting your health is now proactive rather than reactive, and I love that. Combat is a little more about preparation now, though the options there should be expanded and your preparation should last for the whole fight. Even with that stipulation, it's still the better option.

Apart from that, some direct travel points (from the world map) to different areas of Skyhold would have been nice, especially to the war room. It's entirely too far.

Also, have Skyhold customization actually matter and have an impact. You barely even notice the upgrades and they don't do anything!

Yeah, you got my vote. I'm loving the game out of the box, but a lot of this stuff looks really good, especially the advanced tactics, I really miss the If and When variables, you could set up really specific combos for the AI. This system in DAI vanilla is serviceable, but that is it, it let's the AI function, but you have no control.

I honestly enjoy the game without a healer, I think there's a lot to be said about building warriors who can keep their guard up, and using Barrier efficiently. I think re-adding a healer would take as much out of the game as it would put back in.

Storage Chest is a definite.

Umm, what else... ah, yeah, Bonnie Simms needs a bigger role.

Edit: Now that I think of it, some realistic ways to make the story feel more connected to the world would be to make the story missions cost a lot more power. I'm near the end of the game and I'm sitting on something like 300 Power (might be 400, idklol), and the next big mission costs like 40 to initiate. This is way out of balance. Power should be harder to get and missions should cost more.

  • Agree, also a retro engineering function where you destroy a weapon/armor and you obtain it's schematic
  • Hardly a priority
  • As above
  • Npc clearly change location in skyhold companion cannot move due to popular bitching about how people wanted campire return where all companion were static and easly accessible
  • Don't really care
  • Better fast travel? what is the problem of fast travel?
  • Not needed for lower difficulty and on higher difficulty micro managing is needed and the AI is able to keep the char alive until the player cannot take direct control again
  • Scarp the gamepad support for PC than
  • Don't care
  • Don't care
  • Just like hair style hardly a priority
  • Map function perfectly but thanks to the jump function objective can be higer or lower respect the ground

That sort of acceptance of the release of unfinished games is only allowing devs to do it more consistently. The bugs and glitches need to be the first priority.

Bioware admitted it's unfinished due to time constraints and the amount of game-breaking bugs indicate that it is not done.
