Small spoilers, nothing story wise though:

 

When you go into caer oswin, at the courtyard you jump off a small ramp, next to some small stables.

Underneath those stables, like right under the small bit that hangs over, the guy holding the key was killed.

 

Now for the fun part..... HIS LOOT FELL ON TOP OF THE ROOF.

 

So now theres no way for me to reach the key. Can't leave the courtyard, cant travel back to skyhold, theres nothing I can do.

Also I can't seem to jump close enough to click the loot.

 

I'm stuck...And I usually just used quick save, but my quick save is in the courtyard as well. As is the autosave, and my previous real save was before I went on a 2 hour walk about collecting shards.

 

Anyone have any ideas? Cheats hacks or whatever are welcome as well.

 

 

edit; Ok so after raging for an hour or so, decided to try again.. and then I noticed the rocks next to the stairs to the next area, climbed them, climbed across and I got it..

Walk up the stairs where the locked door is.  To the left you'll see a rock ledge.  Hop on it back over to the barn.  Hope that helps.

I've had that happen before, and Forsythia's method works. You should be able to scramble over the rocks to reach the balcony. From there, you can drop down onto the stable roof.
