Seriously... why cant i add a fire rune on my fire staff? or lightning on lightning? spirit is ugly.

There are staff and non-staff runes.

Edit - turns out I never realised that only staffs only use spirit runes.

Would require more graphics work and an ice fire staff would be ???

 

Would require changing balance to account for the elemental status effect of runes applied by weapons that already have elemental status effect, such as to ensure that a fire rune fire staff (more catchy on fire) is not more powerful than a spirit rune fire staff (only more damage from spirit rune), and a hot cold enemy would be ???

I think it might be because you don't want people with ice staffs and ice runes on their ice staffs and ice powers complaining that defeating despair demons is hard.

But then one day, Captain Farenheit tried to set Hyper Thermia on fire, but she blocked it with an Ice Wall, climbed up some Ice Stairs, slid down an Ice Sliding Board, summoned her Ice Chainsaw, and cut off his legs.  Then she froze all the leaves in the tree into Little Frozen Ice Leaf Daggers, which then fell from the tree and cut him all up.  Then she placed him into Deep Freeze Ice Hibernation so he wouldn't die, and then Deep Freeze Ice Hibernationed herself too.  500 years later when they could thaw him out and give him a body transplant to save him, they thawed her out too so she could kill him.  Then she shot herself out of an Ice Cannon, into outer space, towards the sun, and froze the sun, killing the rest of the world.  Then she landed on the sun, and lived there, and made Ice Sculptures, and did lots of different stuff.

 

That's why Ice is the best superpower.

Best explanation ever. I see no problem limiting staves whit just spirit runes on MP and slayer runes in SP. 2 elements in same staff is redundant.
