I remember back in Origin's even though you got all this overpowered Armor's , Weapons from the DLC's you still can get your ass kicked on Nightmare.

Due to this game having Item Packs DLC how overpowered does it make you? enough to swing through Act 1 or enough to swing through the game?

The DLC items in DA2 are pretty overpowered.  You basically get some of the best weapons, armour and accessories in the game, and they continue to level up with you throughout your playthrough, meaning they're always viable, top-tier items.

I put the leveling-up items on my companions because I am too lazy to constantly upgrade their equipment without the convenience of the party camp, but otherwise the items are pretty overpowered. I used the weaker armors from the packs throughout the whole first Act and I expect the higher lvl ones to be similarily powerful. The non-lvling weapons are getting outclassed by equipment I find at the end of the 1st act.
