After reading the novel and finishing the game, I have to say did anyone learn anything new about Felassan and how he died?

Best theory I've seen is that Fen'Harel possessed him (or however you want to describe the relationship between Flemeth and Mythal, used that vallaslin-removal spell, and turned into Solas, but that doesn't really hold up at all. Other than pragmatism about elven history, they don't have much in common, and Briala doesn't mention anything if you bring Solas to the Winter Palace.

But then who was he speaking to at the end of the novel?

Perhaps he did a little more alteration?  Or perhaps Felassan was off doing something else, somewhere else?
