She just made a promise of discovering a way to free the Inquisitor from whatever bond he contrated with Mythal.
Not sure how genuine it was but it was still lovely of her.
Tell us the way in which Vivienne is lovely.

My second playthrough I didn't recruit Vivienne and Cole. Nothing changed except Cassandra became the new divine.

the thing that makes me sad is that she didn't have a bigger role in orlais, she was connected to Celene shouldn't she have had a bigger role in Orlais and especially at the winter ball.

While I was sorely tempted to kick the self-centered power-hungry female dog to the curb, I felt that she was simply too well connected in the abomination that is The Game in Orlais. I ignored her for the rest of the game, simply upsetting and annoying her whenever I could. The only companions whose recruitment aren't a sure bet with me are Cole, because what he is, and Iron Bull because of who he works for (the battle between lust for him and revulsion for what he reprisents is hard one).
If I do another playthrough, I don't think I'm recruiting Bull or Cole because the AI can't play either of them worth a crap. They're pretty much just potion sucking machines.

Viv was actually reasonably nice to me (or at least, not a jerk.) Solas was the one who was always whining about every decision I made. Unfortunately, I don't think you can make him leave.
You can punch him.

I don't like her. And if she could, my canon inquisitor would twist her head off at the neck and punt it from the highest mountain in the Frostbacks. I doubt I'll recruit her on my next mage playthrough.

Very low approval, he'll start to insult you, the Inquisition and your followers. You can then respond in kind by decking him in the face.

You know I find it funny how pro mages hate her, yet which mage faction had their leader betray their cause and sell them into slavery and show their incompetence along with putting them all in danger? I know for sure it was not Vivie and her faction that did just a stupid stunt.

My first Inquisitor didn't get along with her at all. My 2nd Inquisitor - they're best friends. Viv is AMAZING when she likes you.
This will probably be the only playthrough where that happens tho.
Only companion I've turned down to recruit is Cole (in my 2nd playthorugh - devout Andrastian....) - and that one just feels terrible.
Viv and I are friends in my play through too and I have to agree. She almost acts like a mother to my inquisitor.
And with her being my friend I have to disagree that she seems like she's there for furthering her own purposes.
It DEFINITELY starts that way but as the friendship grows it really does seem she remains for you and not her own desires.
I really believe she is one of the better, more in depth characters in the game. Plus most of her banter is pretty much priceless.
But I can see how she would be a pain if you are enemies.

She's waaaaay to useful both storywise and gameplay-wise not to recruit. As the Imperial Court Enchanter she's one of the world's most powerful and respected mages, she can connect you to her noble friends, and gives the Inquisition an air of regality. In-game well she's the only Knight-Enchanter companion nuff said.
If non Mage players could handle having to use Anders as the only healer for most of DA2, you can handle Vivienne's condescension.

I'm playing pro mage and I don't hate her. I'd use her more but I love having Dorian around. I'll give her more time when I do the Templar side.

I don't think so. Does Vivi have a chance at becoming the new grand enchanter if she doesn't become the divine?

I'm more or less ambivalent about her as a person even though I did appreciate her perspective on the whole magic controversy.
My main perception of the use of circles was that they were innately flawed and biased against the mages, which meant that they should be taken down. After Viv talked about the positive aspects of using magic circles and about mages who have had good experiences with them (herself included) I ended up having a better opinion about the system. Learning about her perspective made me more optimistic about re-doing the circles while still implementing changes for the better.
I never really use her in my party nor do I care about her as much as I do for other characters, but I do appreciate the personal input she puts forth in the story.

It sounds like it's a process but it's likely she becomes Grand Enchanter if Cassandra is Divine. At least it makes sense to me

She's an input that we sorely needed since DA:O. Wynne was decent but didn't provide as much influence on the discussion as Vivienne does, she only talks about her own personal experience while everyone else in the game talks about the Circles being terrible. DA2 did worse by having everyone being extremists with middle ground being a completely foreign concept.
Vivienne was the type of mage I argued existed but was never portrayed and I'm glad she was introduced to give Circles the dynamic that Circles aren't entirely bad and they help mages just as much as the common folk.
Was rather pleased when she became Divine and crushed the rebels, though that might just be me.

My problem with turning companions down is that by doing so we (the players) would be literally missing content, and the completionist in me cannot bear the thought of that!
I have to say, Vivienne's sidequest with the wyvern heart actually made me start to care about her as a character... then she pulled the showing me off to gain support for her "Divine-ness." Gah!

My only issue with her perspective- is that she came from a circle that was one of the fairer or better circles. I doubt her perspective would be the same of she had lived in Kirkwall's circle.
But I get what your saying about her making you more optimistic about them. I definitely get the same feeling.
Especially because after 3 games I'm kind of sick of the whole Templar-Mage war. I'm beginning to feel like, I'm done with the mages, put them back in the damn circle. Recruit some more Templars and be done with it.
