Was limiting the use of ALL of your active abilities in combat intentional?

Apparently the companion AI can use all enabled abilities whether they're in their 8 slots or not, which makes it laughable to me. Proves that the limit it has nothing to do with encouraging a strategic choice and everything to do with the limitation of controllers.

I haven't tested this myself as I don't trust the companion AI to tie their own shoes, let alone handle 8+ abilities without a gambit system.

Mmm from what I noticed they don't. I know my mages wouldn't use barrier without it being in their active 8. And if you favorite an ability it goes on their active 8 automatically. Hmmm.. I should try favoring more than 8 and see what happens.

My mistake, it doesn't automatically add it. And you can favor more than 8. Still don't know if they'll use it in battle.
