I don't think it's possible--think of the money they'd have to spend to get both VO's back into the game. That alone is enough for breaks to screech. (Also consider there are three different tones each Hawke can have. Yikes.) On top of that, you have to deal with all the other stuff that goes with Hawke, such as which sibling is alive, if any, and where they are now. Which LI do they have? Rivalry or Friendship? Where are they? Do they show? When do they show? Plus the end choice of DA2, mages versus templars, where does Hawke stand?  How Cassandra would react to Hawke as Inquisitor would be different, since she'd be offering the title immediately instead of later. How does Hawke react to that?

Honestly, they'd have to rework the entire game.

All that said, if it were possible, I'd be completely for it. Hawke and Varric desperately trying to save the entire world, which is different from simply saving a citystate. Corypheus would feel more impressive as a baddy, with Hawke as the Inquisitor. Hawke killed him once already. That's scary. A lot would be different, but it would be possible within the frame of DAI's story. That's gets my mind going.

Aaaand now I want to write fanfic. Thanks, OP.

EDIT: I FORGOT TO MENTION CULLEN

Man, there's a lot of stuff that Inquisitor Hawke would have different reactions to. [WISTFUL SIGH] It would have been very interesting. Not that the current DAI is bad, mind you. But this would be very different.

No comment on playing Hawke, but I just hate dlc.  Every time ea release a game they just release half of it and then release a lot of dlc that is even more expensive than the base game.

then don't buy it problem solved.. if it's good and adds something to the game some people don't mind

Inquisitor Hawke is a cool what-if situation when Cassandra first reveals that she intended Hawke to be the Inquisitor. But that's just it - a what-if situation, and I think it should/will stay that way. Simply because BioWare have repeatedly stated that DA is primarily a story about Thedas, not about a specific hero, which is why there is a new protagonist each game. And tbh, I sort of agree with that sentiment.

Ignoring the enormous rework of the entire game (in both story and gameplay) that they'd need to do for this "DLC", BioWare has never intended nor will it intend to have a single protagonist span several games as the PC. It just isn't a thing.

Would have loved to see Hawke and the Hero of Fereldan as party members.

Kinda bummed how the characters kept raving about Hawke the entire game. Hawke has nothing on The Warden, where was he?

I would buy this. Don't think it's gonna happen though.

Shilling the Wesley trope. When the authors don´t get they´ve fumbled creating the character and have everybody point out how great s/he is and how on earth can´t we see it, usually resulting in said character becoming still more disliked.

On the plus side, we didn´t get stuck with Hawke again as PC, so maybe they did get it to a point.

Being on the receiving end of the "witty Hawke" was so painful. I was like "I can't believe I was this guy for an entire game, I'm so sory NPC's in DA2".

Thinking about it this would not be that bad with Hawke as the protagonist we will have a new Shepard but for Dragon Age franchise but you know funny.
