As far as I know, the only tier-3  one handed sword schematic in game is a Dwarven Long sword which, when compared to some of the other weapons of the same tier, is so bad that it is virtually unusable late game - the only type of one handed weapon with decent enough of tier-3 varietis is Axe, which comes in Engraved/Insribed/rare-craftable versions.

 

So where are all the comparable tier-3 superior/unique/rare-cratable one handed swords?

 

Or are we supposed to all just be happy with only one type of weapon, an axe, throuout the entire late game?

You could use the Unique caliban but it still falls a bit short compared to crafted mace or axe.
