I have been a supportive apologist for Inquisition and have, all in all, been thrilled with the game.  But I'm sorry, BioWare failed when it comes to combat.

The AI just doesn't work, and tactical cam is completely useless.

Dragon fights are only so hard because you can't keep your party members from doing stupid things.  If they would actually attack instead of running into danger or just sitting there, then maybe you could damage the creature's health.  You have to spend all of your time keeping your party member's from doing ****** things instead of using their abilities in a strategic way.  You can't simply get them all to attack one limb, for example.  You'd have to button mash four characters simultaneously to get that to happen.  I was really hoping to be able to use strategy and planning for boss fights, but that is not how the game works in practice.  It is a huge step back from both Origins and DA2.

Yeah I have to agree the AI definitely isn't too smart in certain circumstances. Rogues don't dodge, mages will eat a fireball to the face instead of moving. And if you ever have 2 tanks, each one set to defend another character, they both just end up taunting the same character and standing there with shield wall up. There's no check to see if the other tank already has that mob.

But, they are working on the AI steadily. The last patch released claimed an update to AI. I'm sure they'll keep fine tuning it.

The ai in origins hardly avoided stuff like that. Or was it my failiure to set proper behaviour?

The AI in DO wasn't smart BUT you had behaviour UI that was 10x better then what you have in DA:I and that's not an overstatement. DA:I in comparison is a joke.

Lol not at all. I remember Alistair constantly standing there staring blankly out into space many a time. The post was more so the dev team knows there's a problem.

I honestly don't remember stuff like that.

I usually set up 7 points of Tactics + I usually play top-down, strategic anyway.

I had zero issues in DA:O. With the AI or with tac-cam.

Which are both rubbish in DA:I.
