So as the title of this thread states, I partook in some flirty options with Cassandra as a Female Inquisitor which just now prompted a scene with her where she states that she can't return my affections.  The feedback here though being that to talk privately she took me through boarded up parts of the castle, probably in Vivienne's area, which I haven't had access too and which there is now no way for me to properly leave without jumping over the ledge of the walkway or fast travel.

First issue is that the game animated mine and Cassandra's character models through the boards blocking the way.  Completely ruined immersion into the game.  Second issue is that this dialog scene gave me improper access to a part of the map that was likely meant to be accessible at one point but now isn't, which represents a host of problems that people have with Skyhold.  Why are those boards still there even though I did the three upgrades?  Do I unlock further upgrades through war table missions?  Or do I have to wait for DLC of content which obviously, at least obviously now, exists on disc?

Now I love this game.  I all the companions and advisers, with the exception of Vivienne who I hope gets some redeeming qualities right quick because otherwise she is just a stuck up ******.  I thoroughly enjoy the locals, exploring has rarely been as fun as it is in this game, especially because as players we aren't punished for it.  But with all the complaints I have seen on this thread and on threads of other games made by Bioware and other companies, this is explicit of a trend that I feel may be plaguing the industry.  Game development is an business, I know that.  But there was a time when cash grabs weren't so obvious and DLC wasn't heard of and that was when video games were far less prominent in the mass media.  I think it is an underhanded marketing technique to sell an incomplete version of a product only to cash out on the consumer later on.  DLC should be additive and not be used to fill in holes deliberately left during development.

But I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt and chalk this up to bugs that were inevitable in such a big game.  Maybe Skyhold was meant for upgrading but the implementation of requisitions and a huge new crafting system bugged out progress.  OR something to the effect.  Either way it would be nice to actually hear from a Bioware representative on the matter.

P.S.  Can anyone who is on good terms with Vivienne tell me if there are any redeeming qualities revealed at some point?  With as few spoilers as possible.

P.S.S.  Also if Sera shows any positive character growth.  She is kinda on the crazy side and I wouldn't mind mellowing her out and making her perhaps more "heroic" instead of a Vigilante prankster with murderous tendencies.  I was thinking of romancing her but its kinda though to completely get behind her personality.

Skyhold is being worked on continuously through the game. At one point all areas will become available and "repaired." Just keep going, and you will see.

Thank's for the heads up.  It is good to hear.  I had heard too much of the contrary.

Yeah, it's a bit immersion breaking when you wander into areas you've not unlocked yet.

I guess they figured you wouldn't try to romance her until you'd advanced the game more? Which doesn't make sense to me because they should plan on people trying to get as much side stuff done as possible before advancing the story.

I had every zone clear before doing Adamant and Halamshiral. All the romance/friendship stuff advanced as far as I could. Because I want all of the options such stuff unlocks available BEFORE I go anywhere with the story.

Hehe yeah. "Repaired". Cullen's roof never gets fixed and there's still a huge hole in the corridor leading to the war table. The keep never gets repaired fully, which is surprising.

Keep never gets fully repaired.  Hole in wall leading to war table, one wall will still be messed up a bit, and many rooms and rooms on watchtowers fallen apart, if you pick chantry or not, that little chantry/atler room the chandelier is always on the ground and never gets fixed up, the chantry or garden upgrade, only difference are 6 plant pots and almost no chantry npcs or only 2 plant pots and a bunch of chantry npcs.  for courtyard either a tiny fit pit w/ that back building broken up or that back shack is fixed.

I can tell you about Vivienne, no spoilers.

She wants to restore order. She is an extremely responsible mage, who is completely aware of the danger she or any mage might pose, willing or not and accepts that she must control herself to keep others at peace. She is helpful to the Inquisition by providing the support of the remaining Loyalist Mages and also brings her influence with the Orlesian Court to help you. She also has an impeccable fashion sense and it actually very nice to the Inquisitor when you earn her respect. Too many short-sighted people think "oh, she isn't afraid to be a ******/rude, I have to hate her."

Now you said no spoilers, so ahead I will slightly allude to another positive thing she does, without spoiling it but anyway:

Spoiler

As for Sera... NO. She remains insane and selfish... She cares more about her own fun and hurting nobles rather than actually helping "the little people", the same little people she doesn't hesitate to use as a means to her end, whatever the consequences may be... I don't really like her xD

Is it a requirement to like everyone?  Isn't having those sorts of dynamics a positive not a drawback?

Vivienne is actually magically devious if you tolerate your way through her initial conversations and grab at the core of her motivations: she's playing the Great Game for the entirety of magekind. Some of her dialogue trees look like palm trees because of this: Vivienne Disapproves, Vivienne Slightly Disapproves, Vivienne Disapproves, Vivienne Greatly Approves.

She's kind of like Jack in this way (in fact, a lot like Jack) - even if you try to act as a positive influence, the personality changes won't happen overnight. But no, she doesn't get much better in this game, so if you disliked her at the start, you're probably not going to be swayed.

You know, an in-game time lapse photo option would be helpful to us, the players.

Well that sounds interesting to say the least.  But as I may have mentioned before it sounds more like she is trying to pander to both mages and Orlesian nobility though what I've been exposed to during gameplay.  I would say that selfishness is one thing that both she and Sera have in common.  All she seems interested in power, regardless of how much or how little she helps the mages.  But its too late for me now.  I am on the last mission with only War Table missions left.  I hope some of them unlock some more content.  Otherwise I took care of things far too early in the game leaving very little for my end game...
