I have to say that in my case it was definitely when Dorian and his father confronted each other.

For one thing I couldn't help but feel horrified at the fact that Dorian's father was actually willing to use blood magic and risk causing extensive, permanent damage to his son just to change his sexual orientation. Like holy sh** man that's all kinds of f*ed up.

Then there's Dorian's reaction. His anger, frustration, pain, suffering was so clear to see in his face and his voice. It was definitely heart-wrenching to see him like that.

Overall this was one of the most, if not the most, memorable scenes in the game for me.

I seen someone post a screenshot of them hugging varric. I never experienced this personally, but I think I know what its pertains to.

Hugging Varric scene was pretty great because the Hawke family theme was playing in the background and I had completely forgotten how much I liked that song.

Tough pick. All the companions had some pretty moving/sad moments. My top three would be Dorian's meeting with his father, Cassandra learning the truth about the Vigil and Leliana's reaction to the Divine's last words to her.

Agreed. It's a shame I'll never see it outside of Let's Plays.

That scene was amazing; you have good taste.

For me it was Iron Bull's "Loyalty" mission when you have to make a certain choice. That was very difficult for me and really emphasized the strength of Bioware's character writing.

It certainly seemed easy, but then I had to bring it back to what was best for the Inquisition and I deliberated for quite a while before making my decision.

When I pissed off Morrigan by drinking from the well and she threw a hissy fit like a 14 year-old girl.

I was absolutely giddy with excitement.

Jk (ok not really).

Dorian's was incredibly emotional. Not just because of the story, but the delivery of Dorian's lines. I've never been moved by voice acting as much as when that man did that scene. Urgh.

Also: Morrigan.

Cole confronting that one Templar, spirit path (have not seen human path yet). That was a powerful moment, IMO.

Not too many I can thing of, though. This game is not really an emotional roller-coaster.

Yes, Dorian's scene with his father was so moving, and I kept yearning for more of where that came from as I progressed through the game, and instead found myself closing more rifts and collecting more shards rather than being truly emotionally engaged as I was with the aforementioned scene. So disappointing.

When you uncover the Red Templar Plot in 'Champions of the Just.' I wasn't quite prepared for that.

Dorian's scene with his father was a big one for me my first time through and I didn't even pry into the line of questioning regarding what he'd meant by 'change him.' Imagine my surprise (and continued heartbreak) in my Dorian Romance playthrough (my second go through) when my Adaar asked him what he'd meant. I, foolishly, hadn't even considered applying blood magic in that way. And then that it could've backfired so horribly and that his father might've even considered that that was 'acceptable risk.'

I had some personal trouble in my most recent playthrough when my M!Trevelyan told Cullen to

It is horrifying. But what's more horrifying is that real life parallels exist of what Dorian's father was willing to do.

The VA's performance was excellent in that scene too. Another scene that got me very emotional was Alexius and his son. I couldn't help but tear up at the scenes where he talks about him.

Dorian's scene is great because the actors delivery of his lines is amazing. Almost everything with Dorian made me feel emotional, he was just fantastic. Cass and Solas had some great moments too. Hugging Varric is a good one. I imagine if you take a certain option with Iron Bull, that's pretty awful to see.

Solas's final romance scene by far. I've watched it over 20 times and I was streaming today and had to play it and I was still tearing up. I have a really strong attachment to Solas though and romanced him in my very first playthrough, and it's the only playthrough I seem to last more than an hour playing. So it's more emotional.

Objectively, the most emotional scene for me is Morrigan/Flemeth/Kieran in the Fade. When Morrigan says, "I am many things. But I will never be the mother you were to me", I always break. It really conveys how much Morrigan has grown, and how strong a mother's love is.

Runner up is definitely Dorian's scene with his father.

A lot of you mentioned a hugging scene with Varric and since I didn't experience it in my playthroughs I decided to look it up.

Big mistake.

Yeah, nothing can top the Morrigan scene for me.

I was not expecting to ever feel even a little sympathetic towards Flemeth, but DAI managed it somehow. *tear*

Also played Solas' romance my first time through and chose all the "emo" options... and this after I played Garrus' romance in ME3... Bioware whyyyyy.

One nobody's mentioned yet is the scene where future!Leliana buys time for Dorian and the Inquisitor to escape back to the past in Redcliffe. Sure it's been done before, but this one really got me somehow.
