I am not to deep, just went to Val Royeux got the other party members. Is it explained later on how dragons came back? I met a few and it seems everyone response is just "oh a dragon, look at that, better avoid it".

From what I remember in last games Dragons haven't been seen in ages.

So if it is explained later on just say so, after all this is no spoilers thread. Hopefully I didn't spoil anything. Or Is never explained why dragons are back?

Dragons came back a few decades before Origins where many people saw one. The Warden can encounter and kill one.

Then in Dragon Age II, another High Dragon appears that Hawke can kill.

There's also the young dragons and dragonlings (many of which appeared throughout Origins).

So it is common knowledge that they're back. The current age is named after the fact that the dragons returned.

OK I am a skeptic.

Before Origins, "many people saw"...I recall Dragons were hunted a long time ago and that was it.

we encounter One, high on a temple nobody knew it was actually using as a home.

Dragonlings I recall appeared there as well. I don't remember finding them throughout Origins, just in the temple.

And the Common knowledge they are back still escapes me. I been going back to look over the Codex on Origins and I don't find anything to say they are just "oh yeah dragons are back...now what is for supper" type of mentality.

How do you edit I got no idea... I also recall them living deep in the ...deep roads.  Forgot to mention that weird....spirit lighting dragon. Forgot the name. A high political figure got killed by one and I do recall that is why the age is called the Dragon Age. But I don't recall Dragons being seen in numbers outside abandoned areas and ruins, or flying around the country side in numbers and people just minding their fields as if a bird just flew by.

Dragons were only hunted to near extinction. A High Dragon went on a rampage at the end of the Blessed Age (8:99) which gave the Dragon Age it's name. They've had 40 years since then to really get the population started again.

A Dragon Cult was formed around the High Dragon in the mountains above Haven.

True, its been 40 years, but its only been 10...ish years since DAO. And during it Dragons weren't a common occurrence anywhere, 10 years later, Dragonlings found just right outside major population centers...I think would have warranted a codex update or something saying "this is what Dragons have done, or news about them have changed during the last 10 years.

DAO: Dragons found in Ruins or isolated places

DA2: Dragons found in ruins or isolated paces

DAI: Dragons found in Red-cliffs back yard :P
