Any word on Dorian's personal quest bug?

After 40 hours I just realized I can't even trigger Dorian's personal quest (Last Resort of Good Men) because the conditions for triggering it are convoluted for no good reason.

Since the way this quest triggers and the way it bugs out is so inane, I'm wondering if a dev/anyone else could tell me if they're planning to fix Dorian's personal quest any time soon, or if it's possibly getting fixed in the next patch. Hopefully it will be a retroactive fix so I can finish it in my current playthrough instead of starting a completely new one. Thanks

Hoping for Solas' "What Lies Dormant" to get fixed too..

Not a bug. I completed his quest.

Choices will open and/or close opportunities.

PS: Open the Journal, open Inner Circle and see if it's there... if it is, activate it.

For the record, I did Dorian's quest in my previous playthroughs, it's just bugged in this one since I unfortunately did not know what leads to the quest being bugged.

If you do things in a certain way Dorian's personal quest might not trigger, and if you don't do it at one point in the story then you missed your chance.

The consensus between people who have the bug is that the only way you can get the quest is through speaking with Mother Giselle in the Skyhold main hall, which can only be triggered if you have a conversation about Felix with Dorian. This conversation about Felix can be bugged in multiple ways apparently (meaning you can't get it at all) - if you exhaust all convo options with Dorian in Haven, if you do the Alexius judgement before talking to Dorian about Felix, if you talk to Dorian about Alexius in Haven or if you have too high of an approval with Dorian really early in the game. Apparently, the only point at which this quest can trigger is in the #2 phase of Skyhold redecoration, once all the wood and stones are cleared from the main hall, but before the total redecoration that you see Skyhold in for the rest of the game.

The point is that it's possible you can't even get the conversation that triggers this quest because the conditions upon which this conversation appears and doesn't appear are complicated for no real reason.

As mentioned in my initial post.. the triggering for this quest is so inane and the way it bugs out is even dumber. Just wondering if anyone has any word if this is getting fixed any time soon, or if it's at least getting looked at. Crossing my fingers it'll be fixed in the next patch.

  You spoke to mother Giselle?

I did not, that is the only way to get the quest. I can't speak to Mother Giselle because there is no option to. To trigger the event where Mother Giselle talks to you about Dorian, you would have to first talk to Dorian about Felix. In my previous post I explained how this conversation about Felix with Dorian can get bugged, which leads to me not being able to talk to Mother Giselle, because that is dependent on me speaking to Dorian about Felix, which currently isn't possible due to the bug.

What I've learned about Bioware games is they always have the most annoying bugs when their games are released.

From now on I will wait a month before I play a new release from Bioware. It's ALWAYS something with them.

that isn't the only point when the quest can trigger. i've done dorian's personal quest three times and each time i got it right after talking to him about felix, and right after arriving in skyhold -- i didn't leave to do a single thing beforehand. each time i talked to mother giselle, i had the version of skyhold where the wood and stones were scattered all around the main hall.

i've never had the bug, and typically i exhaust almost all of dorian's conversation options in haven, then talk about stopping corypheus when i become inquisitor and don't judge alexius until after i've gotten his personal quest. if any of that helps.

I would really love an update on this, too.  Where is it in terms of priority?  Is it on the radar at all?  Patch 2 is out now and...nothing.  My main game is on hold in hopes that a fix will still allow this quest to trigger.

For information purposes, I WAS able to get this quest to trigger in my second game by doing the following:

-recruit Dorian

-immediately obtain Skyhold

-immediately talk to Dorian upon regaining control.  At second initiation of conversation (I didn't leave, I just exited the conversation then initiated it again), the scene with Felix's letter triggered, which in turn triggered Mother Giselle moving to the throne room to give me Last Resort of Good Men, and everything proceeded as normal.

The difference between my broken game and my second game is mostly how much I quested with Dorian PRIOR to Skyhold.  In my broken game, I did every available quest he had, war table and otherwise.  I racked up tons of approval for him.

In the second game I avoided any questing and went right to Skyhold after recruiting him, and his personal quest triggered successfully.  I DID exhaust all conversation with him at Haven, and Skyhold was NOT cleaned up or updated at all, and the quest still triggered.  Seems largely to hinge on how much approval you have with him prior to Skyhold?

Anyway, that at least let me see the quest, but I'd still reeeeally appreciate a fix for this.  It sucks to take Dorian from new acquaintance right to bestie/romance with no time in between.  Really screws up the pace of the story.

Sooo it's still bugged?

Does anyone who sided with the templars have triggered Dorian's personal quest? Got Skyhold, talked to Dorian and still nothing. I guess I'll have to go back and chose the mages. It gives me a greater chance to get his quest.

Thanks BioWare

There doesn't seem to be a recurring factor. Some people mention that not speaking with Dorian at all while at Haven will prevent the bug, but others claim that they exhausted all his dialogue options and still got the quest. The my first playthrough, I sided with the mages, exhausted his dialogue options at Haven and never got the quest. Second playthrough, I sided with the templars, and therefore did not recruit Dorian until the quest that ends with the Inquisition moving to Skyhold, speaked a little with him at Skyhold, and got his companion quest quite early. Seems like whether or not you'll get the quest is a complete coinflip.

Yep, from everything I've read, it's unpredictable under what circumstances the quest will trigger.

Which is why it seems even less worth it to go back to Haven and replay the game from there -- I can't really be confident that anything I did would fix my game.

Again, guys: Please give an ETA on a fix.

Actually I'm glad Dorians quest is bugged for many, maybe a developer purposely bugged it to save you all the misfortune of having full on LGBT script/preached to you on gay acceptance.

I know, I'm also glad when other people are prevented from having access to things I personally don't enjoy.

That's what freedom means to me.

Snark aside, the bug blocks not just the romance but all of Dorian's subsequent content.
