Hello DAI team.
Bought my game over Thanksgiving weekend.
Although traditionally a PC game player. For DAI, I went with PS4 because of the timing. I got a PS4 for my children when it came out, mostly to play Lego games.
When I read DAI's optimal play PC hardware requirements, it would cost be $60 just for the game to enjoy the graphics at their best. Upgrading my PC to run it would probably have cost me $500 for a new CPUs and a graphics card, assuming I could keep the motherboard. I also have a growing family with other financial priorities. I am however, a hardcore DAO fan, whose Warden "got the girl Morrigan" all the way through Witch Hunt.
My PC is from 2011 and it would have run it, just not optimally. Combined with the Dragonkeep way to simulate the import of my saved games, I decided to go with PS4, even if partial to PC hardware. It was cost efficiency at its finest that drove the decision.
So far I am 20 hours into it and I really enjoy it. The gameplay with a PS4 controller versus a mouse takes some getting used to. The lack of flexibility the PC offers is another thing I miss, but the game looks gorgeous. I was thrilled to be able to customize my hero again. Hawke was cool, but my original Warden was better. The mage combat in DAII set another combat standard. I am traditionally a fighter-tank type of player in RPGs but in DAII and DAI, playing a mage is the most impressive and dynamic combat. Long way from weak low level mages in D&D. Thus far, I am very much enjoying the world and the pace, with a "small quests first" strategy to build up strength, xp and influence, and leaving the major plot quests for last. So far, great job, worth the wait.
More feedback in the future.
JD
