Bioware,

You have apparently designed her character very well to evoke such strong loathing from me concerning this character. I find her to be utterly despicable, rude and downright insulting.

Sera said it right; She is a b*****. So did Blackwall. She is a snake.

It has been a long while since Ive hated a character so much. Good job on that.

/rant off.

PS; people made a "slap morrigan" mod for DAO. I want one for this game called "Slap that Bi*** Vivienne"

Racist misogynistic and wrong. Just thought I'd say how this thread will look in an hour so you can prep.

I'd feel the same if her arguments did not make me question some of the beliefs I've held. For that, she gets my respect, though we still completely disagree with each other.

Agreed, OP; her character was written masterfully.

Hah, probably, but I would be surprised that people haven't called out Bioware for making her this type of character in the first place.

I like Viv. If you're friendly with her she becomes a very motherly figure toward your Inquisitor and is generally concerned about them.

At her core she's just an incredibly Ambitious Woman that worked hard for where she is and will continue to work hard to hold onto what she has.

Sure she's horrible with people like Sera (No better than a cutpurse in her eyes) and Blackwall (who is a lying murderous git) but that's because they do little to earn her respect and have a tendency to prove her right as the game progresses.

She had such a badass introduction too!

I'll give her this, she kept my party alive more than once fighting those dragons. She knows her fashion too, had me looking GQ for my time with Josie.

My only complaint about her is that she doesn't throw more extravagant parties for you to attend.

You know you don't actually have to recruit her? If you hate her and keep recruiting her after your first playthrough then, well, that's more your problem than hers. You also don't have to talk to her or take her with you or anything like that if you do recruit her. So again, the fact that she riles you up is also more your problem than hers.

She's a Fenris with a peculiar but brilliant fashion sense, not sure why people are so up in arms about her; from the beginning she was said to be behind the circle and to strongly disagree with the rebellion, she was said to be Machiavellian and is known as "the Lady of Iron".

Exactly who did the BSN think that they were getting? a prettier Wynne?

I loved her. Does she have moments where I side-eye her? Of course. But I overall, I enjoy her bite.

  • Most reasonable view on the Templar-Mage issue in the series
  • Best mage in the game
  • Impeccable fashion sense
  • Has strong opinions of her own rather than just kissing the player's ass the whole game
  • Hilarious
  • Hates Sera

10/10 Would keep in my party permanently

I made here Devine in my last playthrough, just because I wanted to get rid of her ;)

Ah well I romanced Cassi so I had to do something.

Vivienne was really happy when I told her that I will help her to be devine. She restored the circle but mages still have great freedom, because she controlls the templars now. I actually think she is the best Devine, because she returns law and order into Thedas.

I felt I was used by her to achieve that position she wanted all the time

(sorry I don't want to spoil and I can't remember how to make spoiler tags)

She joined the Inquisition so she can get her hands in power. That's what I felt. I really hate her. She's a venomous spider, grr!

Besides, I believe in mage freedom and I think the Chantry is crap. She does the opposite. Sure, it's easy to say mage's life isn't that hard when you live in a palace, in wealth and sleeping with a Duke.

She's a fat bourgeois pig.

Aside from her being rather shallow. She's mainly with the inquisition for political gain. She says "we need the circles" and wants to keep them in their current state, not because she actually believes in them, but because that's where the heart of her power is. If the circle is gone, she's irrelevant again. She plays yes man for the chantry and says the other mages should just stay in their place. While simultaneously she's running around in a huge palace mingling with the nobility and basically getting free reign to do whatever she wants. She says "Mages are dangerous" then will use her magic against civilians over petty gripes just to make herself look more dangerous and intimidating. She's a hypocrite, she's manipulative, and she cares primarily for her own political power.

Her arguing with Solas 100% of the time constantly talking down to him like she knows so much more, and all the while she's actually talking to a god basically sums up her character. She's blindly arrogant.

All that being said, I don't really hate her.

And yet Vivs outcome as Divine is one of the best for Mage Sympathisers.

Let's just say she puts that Moron Fiona in her place at last.

I will admit she is the first time I have ever hated a character who has been so well written.  Morrigan was just pretty inconsistent  at times and I wanted to like her, and Isabella was just a walking...erm...cliche.

Vivienne is quite predictable, I know what I can expect when I made her Devine. That why she is probably the best Devine if you want to keep Cassie for yourself.

*
MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

My dear Vordish,

First of all I must mention that I deeply regret stumbling upon this thread while perusing these dreadful 'forums', if one might even call them that, and finding it to be so full of hostile comments towards my character. Truly, it pains my heart to witness such an impugnation on a website that, as far as I've been told, is for the fans of BioWare's work and its characters. It especially saddens me seeing that an esteemed member of the online sphere like yourself would spread such bitter and jaundiced comments about me, right when we all find ourselves in perilous times. After all, it seems that those aspiring to godhood have tried so hard to achieve their goal, that they left nothing but death and ruin in their wake.

Tried and failed, I must remind you, for it was the Inquisition that stopped this threat. An organization of which I am a part, my dear, as you very well know. Since we've reached the subject, it occurs to me; why would such a prestigious ally in the war against Corypheus, for that is the name the threat has evidently been given, care for the, quite frankly yawn-inducing opinions of an individual such as yourself? I see no accomplishment on your behalf, besides being able to use words such as 'loathing' and 'despicable' in coherent sentences, a feat rarely seen on forums such as this one. But then, evidently, there's your absolutely atrocious use of interpunction and the unforgivable absence of an apostrophe. I'll leave it up to you to figure out where exactly this horrible incident occurs.

Most sincerely,

"that B*** Vivienne",
more commonly known as

Madame de Fer
