I understand her perfectly. She wants to maintain the status quo, because under the status quo, she's living like a queen. Who wouldn't want to maintain that?

Almost every companions wants that too.

...and? I thought the point of the post I quoted was to show how stupid everyone that didn't share the poster's opinion was.

Bioware,

You have apparently designed her character very well to evoke such strong loathing from me concerning this character. I find her to be utterly despicable, rude and downright insulting.

Sera said it right; She is a b*****. So did Blackwall. She is a snake.

It has been a long while since Ive hated a character so much. Good job on that.

/rant off.

PS; people made a "slap morrigan" mod for DAO. I want one for this game called "Slap that Bi*** Vivienne"

Well I loved her. Really.

I wouldn't call her a b*tch. Demanding sure, Determined, hell yes. But not a beeach.

Oh, she did, but I never said otherwise. One can still be devastated by something yet make the most of it at the same time. Vivienne excels in such a situation, as her personal quest clearly shows.

You give me too much credit. It was all Madame de Fer, for which we have Mary Kirby to thank. Viv is so brilliantly written that her... manner of speech is quite inspiring.

Though I won't take a compliment like that for granted (you flatter me, really). Thank you :)

Yeah, whatever else Vivienne is, she's really a well written, three dimensional character. One of the best in Inquisition's roster.

It saddens me though that her personal quest felt a bit.. short. It may be that I killed the Snowy Wyvern when i was quite a relatively high level, making for a very easy kill. or maybe it's just because I'm spoiled and want more. Possibly both.

Vivienne's nice. Wish she had more writing though. She lacks interactions. No Wicked Grace. No Chess Game with Cullen or Dorian. Doesn't pop up in another person's sidequest like Cole or get special dialogue like Dorian/Solas when on Bull's quest.

For the Bull's quest dialogue you mean when Gatt asks about Solas being a Circle Mage? If so Vivienne also has a line there or she did for me at least.

As for the topic I quite like Vivienne I understand that she joins the Inquisition for her personal gain and wishes the Circles restored for the same reason. However she is reasonable and her views have a point even if she is just saying that to advance herself. The banter with the Bull is priceless as well.

Erm she's a KE and borderline op. Game play wise she chrns thru things, pity I can't stand toffs irl, so she loses out to that.

Vivienne is a breath of fresh air.

And I can't fault her for being ambitious. Some inquisitors are very ambitious.

I love her fresh POV regarding the mage circles too. And this is coming from someone who absolutely hated the circles when playing a mage character in the first two games. She brings up some excellent points regarding Templars: some are completely psychotic and others are perfectly charming ... just like people in general. And asking a mage what it was like living in the Circle is a loaded question because every circle is different. I had never really thought about that before she pointed it out to me.

Thanks for forcing me to be a little more open-minded, Viv!

So anyone else get Viv telling them they'd be better off throwing rocks at demons than using the wardens at the end of here lies the abyss quest?

So snarky lol.

Granted, Blackwall didn't know the entire family would be there. Still... no excuse I suppose.

My inquisitors was an enforcer for the cartel. Not much better anyways lol.

And yet Vivs outcome as Divine is one of the best for Mage Sympathisers.

Let's just say she puts that Moron Fiona in her place at last.

Spoiler me plz?

Not exactly, she's the court enchanter and mistress of a nobleman. She's never lied about why she's involved with the Inquisition, unlike other companions. I never got the impression that people wanted to change the status quo. The opportunity simply presents itself by certain choices you can make.

I was pleasantly surprised by it. Like I posted before, she's never lied about why she's in the Inquisition. She asked a favor on the Snowy Wyvern simply because the current crises denied her the help she initially sought out.

She's the type of character that you'd love to hate but can't help but like her at the same time. I admit she sometimes annoy me but not to the point that i want to get rid of her. People like her is so predictable in terms of motive. You know that she has agenda so its wiser to keep her close.  So... as an inquisitor, i am also just using her for the inquisition. You're inquisitor is also a political character after all.  To appease my annoyance with her, I make sure I bring her to the maps w/ swamps and rainy climates. That's enough satisfaction for me, imagining her getting dirty w/ mud, slime and goop xD

So you're agreeing with me, or trying to point something else out entirely? Her goal is to maintain the status quo. Leliana and Cassandra will both express the need of the system to change, even before the Divine decision comes up. You can get this from both of them in Haven. Viv wants it to stay like it is, so she can continue her lifestyle, getting to be Divine just sweetens the deal, I'd imagine, since she hasn't gotten that role in my saves, as of yet, anyway.

She's very well written, and a huge ******. Easily one of the best snarky, condescending, self-important jerks I've ever come across in a game.

Her talking down to Solas like he didn't know what he was on about definitely makes me crack up after having seen the ending, and encapsulates her character quite well.

What Vivienne lacks in humanity she makes up for in style. Solas may be a god, but he looks like the moo-moo aliens from South Park.

Dorian is the guy I take. Like Vivienne he's snarky and can match her wit, but he doesn't have the tendency to go demeaning my other party members.

If you hate Vivienne than you have to hate all of Orlais.

Done and done!

I'll give them credit for taking the worst parts of Winne and Miranda Lawson together with a double of slimy politician and snobby bit h to create least likable human I've ever seen in a game.

Assuming of course that such was in fact the writers actual intent.

you know you can utterly ignore that character and leave her in skyhold for the entire game without interacting with her at all whatsoever ever never?

just leave her by the steps for the whole game
