The delusional mind of a templar supporter, ladies and gentlemen.

What, that's it? Here I am, providing you with a list of human rights and claiming the Mages have them. You respond with "lol ur crazy"... I mean, come on. Try a little, otherwise your opinions are worthless. Seriously do it: Opinions might make sense to you, but if you write them down and get feedback you can become a smarter people.

Also, I'm not a Templar supporter. After seeing how the Seekers and (some) Templars behaved duing DAI, I'm Pro-Circle. DAO I was pro-mage, DA2 was pro-Templar... Nope, middle ground is the only solution I think.

Nah, I'm sicker than hell right now.  Coffee is the only thing keeping me going at the moment.  I've got some stuff to do tonight, so I need to stay up for awhile.   I'm not feeling wired, contrary to some of the bounciness of my posts.

Honestly, my first time around - I complete avoided her. She asked me to get some tomes and wyvern something-somethings and we pretty much disagreed on ... everything. I'm on my second playthrough now, I have decided to give the infamous Madame de Fer a chance and, while we still disagree on most everything, I still find her to be a fairly interesting character.

She can be rather humorous, given the right circumstances. In other circumstances, I tell her to shut her trap when I'm off making Thedas-shattering decisions - (who's the Inquisitor here, amiright?) and she seems to approve of the bitchy attitude I mirror back to her.

I don't know about you, but what do you consider "basic rights" if not these? They had all of them, until they lost their right to have group meetings in Cumberland or whatever... And that's only because they wanted a rebellion.

Top reason why the Circle sucked:

Mages cannot marry, have children, raise children if incidentally they do have them, or leave their towers without permission.

They are all subject to the Harrowing - and if the Circle really is at least in part about protecting mages it shouldn't have a test that kills them as often as not.

They live under threat of tranquility - and we've seen its use is not always limited to apprentices and that it has been used and misused in very grey areas.

There is a distinct lack of privacy. Armies are garrisoned in their homes.

They live under threat of annulment - they can be killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time essentially - even the children.

The heavy templar presence in the circles reduced them to arms of the Chantry.

And the Chantry has been an organization that promotes fear of mages and magic for its own gain.

This was a typical circle. Kirkwall was far worse.

Pompous and self serving, yet still likeable. I agree with her viewpoints more then any other of the party members. Bioware did a superb job with her, imo.

I so hate Vivienne. I ran with her, Sera and Bull just because I was hoping Sera would tear her down but it never happened. Sigh.

I actually loved Vivienne, her personal quest and banter are some of the best stuff in the game. She is power hungry, but she never hid that from the inquisitor, I was even surprised at how sincere she was about her motivations. She is not in the inquisition to make friends, that is very clear, still her interactions with other characters are not as bad as some people have painted them, she stands her ground, as any good player of the game should, her banter with Cole is pure gold though, we really get to know her better....

I also got the impression that she does care about her fellow mages, she sees the truth that, with or without a circle, magic will always cause problems (due to its chaotic nature) and therefore someone will always be trying to "fix it", her solution being education, making the circle less of a prison and more of a learning institution where mages actually improve their power rather than waste it. We do not know for sure how big is this "freedom" that they enjoy under her wings, but given what she says in the game I doubt she'd allow annulments or even tranquility. I find her being made divine (despite the initial trouble/prejudice towards her being a mage) the safest outcome for both mages and the stability of south Thedas.

LOL@ Sera tearing Vivienne down, you'd have a better chance of doing that with Solas.

A youth potion using the venom sac from the most highly poisonous creature in Thedas which when administered instantly killed the drinker. Yep, sounds like a youth potion to me.

Plus, if it was just a youth potion, why would she refuse to tell you what the potion was going to do? She only refused to tell you because it was poison and you would stop her if you knew she was going to use it to kill her lover.

Because Viv does everything on a need to know basis.

Anyway, here's the Inquisitor confirming its a youth potion. You get the option if you read the notes and give her the fake heart:

Actually if you're on good terms with Vivi and ask her why she won't tell you she pretty much says that if you asked her to do something she'd do it because she respects you and she'd keep it to herself for the same reason. I found that touching.

That reminds me of something I wrote...shoot, back in April I think.  Looking back, I think I really nailed the tone of the banter between Sera and Vivienne as what ended up being shown in the game.  The concept behind the imagined banter was that Sera had heard about the Elder/Poet Tree, and had proceeded to annoy the entire party with it.  I have a few, but this one comes to mind.

Viv is an ass. Mages like that I would gladly hand over to the qunari. Could you imagine? One of her companion quests actually wanted me to retrieve blood vials of apostates. Hell to the no. When I read what she wanted me to do I just skipped her quest entirely. No way I'm helping to rebuild useless circles. Also her stupidity in talking down the elven god in your party the dread wolf.

I'm not trying to argue with you here, but I think I missed that one.  I remember getting her the books, the Heart of Snow White (cute, BioWare) but blood vials of apostates?  No offense, but could you (or someone) link to me that quest?

@Natashina; while talking to her if you make the mistake of choosing the option, "I want to help the circle" she will give you a quest where you have to go to different maps to retrieve apostate phylacteries( blood vials of apostate mages that fled the circle)

Um, okay.  May I see a link to this quest please?  I did choose that option in dialogue, and never saw a quest like that.  It would have stood out in my mind. I still have no idea what you are talking about.

Nothing personal, but I do ask folks to cite their sources on occasions like this.
