tbh most of the time I agree with her....is just that calling me darling every time that irks me quite a lot
I utterly despise Vivienne. With a passion.

I wonder how free the college of enchanters is. Wouldn't they still need to take peoples mage children away if only to train them?

I think they send owls to those families with invitations.

Nopenopenope. She is not "playing the game" with the Inquisitor, or if she is then she's unspeakably awful at it. Go back to the Winter Palace and see how the game works. You're supposed to be subtle, you're never supposed to be blunt, and while it's okay to call someone out on their BS, you're not supposed to be a condescending douchebag. "Blunt" is the second to first word I'd use to describe Vivienne (I can't repeat the first one on a family forum) and it's what you're NEVER supposed to be in the game.
Gaspard isn't particularly subtle but that doesn't make him any less effective at playing the game when compared to his rival Celene. She's also very well connected and well liked as shown by her associates during her introduction scene. She's in a position where she can afford to be blunt and not suffer much backlash for it. If the Inquisitor turned against her then it's very likely that they'd lose a lot of support which is likely why she's kept around by the Inquisition.

Hufflepuffs are the coolest, the world just doesn't know it yet (even Hufflepuffs don't know it).
As for Vivienne it was just the year when the saying "One does not achieve greatness without feathers" was trendy ...so peacocks POWERpeacocks...

Seriously as long as it's not a Dr/HR or Hr/SS romance story yes please!
A muggleborn trying to navigate her way through Slytherin fascinates me. Plus her and Ron and Harry still becoming friends and actually putting that "all houses should come together." stuff in actual action would be wonderful.
Yes I'm still mad Rowling had all the Slytherins either fight on Voldermort's side or run away. That was some bull.

Yes Vivianne is mean, and elitist. But she also plays the role of the grounded conservative warning that revolutions don't always end well. She's a real person. Not merely a politically correct token. Thank you Bioware.

But I know what you mean...he was alot less confrontational, Btw seeing as female Shepard (if being nice) was always very flirty with him (ugh!) how did the male Shep interated? Sorry to digress this topic so much...

If she doesn't like you :
Spoiler
I never got this in my game , I sort of get along with her ...probably because I told her I wanted order back (it made sense for my Dalish to say that since he was send to the conclave because humans trouble were disturbing his clan) .
And from what I saw with her in game , you get way more approval with conversation than your actual action .(a lot of time she simply doesn't care much about what you do , I freed the mage , allied with the warden , let Morri drink ,and she loved me ...).
But if you tell to her face you stronly disagree , she gets really really passive agressive , it seems.
and you can't hang her for that why? You can't chew her out why? Oh I know She loves the circles so much..but she isn't in a tower right now, so she is apostate, make her tranquil.

The thing about Vivienne is that she's up front about who she is and it's pretty clear she has a ulterior motive when joining the Inquisition. She's accumulated great power playing "the game" in Orlais and she's proud of what's she's accomplished. She doesn't apologize for it and has a very unique view of how to handle mages, especially considering that she is one. Never thought I would hear a mage actually Defend the Circles, but she did and was very convincing in doing so. Whether the reason for that view is that she truily believes that the people must be protected from mages (due to the possession factor) or she has the underlying motive of wanting to keep her power and influence isn't clear to me. Probably a bit of both.

Speaking of her joinng the inquisition - it is interesting why she accept the 'no' so easy...at that point we (as institution....although she might not be very impressed with the power of the PC either) are not powerfull enought for her not to dare to try forcing her way in....

That reminds me of something I wrote...shoot, back in April I think. Looking back, I think I really nailed the tone of the banter between Sera and Vivienne as what ended up being shown in the game. The concept behind the imagined banter was that Sera had heard about the Elder/Poet Tree, and had proceeded to annoy the entire party with it. I have a few, but this one comes to mind.

Oh no, if I guess the Powerball numbers, I'm keeping that to myself. ![]()
Thanks for the compliment. I tried to do one for Solas, but having an entire segment with his response being riddles was too much for me. After about 2 weeks, I gave up. I suck at creating riddles anyhow. ![]()
